Daniel there was an upcharge. I wound up at about 42K with the "Toyo-Care" package. They were not interested in the least about negotiating the price because they can't keep these on their lot.

What made you decide to go for a GR86? And not a used m2? I am asking bc you mentioned you already own a BMW and I am also debating between the two. I own a BMW sedan but I am looking to get myself an “sport” RWD car and for many months I was super into getting a BMW m2 but lately this car has caught my attention, mainly bc of price and reviews on KZbin. But I am very used to BMW quality but I am not too fully comfortable with their pricing, and needing to compromise my credit etc. Plus, I won’t need much speed to have fun, never gotten a speeding ticket 😂 but again I guess it’s a man’s dream to have a sport fun car. Anyway, any tips and thoughts would help. Thanks
@michael-gd9ho11 ай бұрын
I am really unsure of BMW's long term reliability and their repair costs are really high. I think that having an M2 would be really cool until about 70K miles but after that I would worry about having to spend a fortune on repair bills. I love that car though and the B58 inline 6 is really solid. It's a dream car for me, but I just have to face the reality that I really can't afford to own one long term.

@@michael-gd9ho thanks Michael, yes I have own a 328, 2014 for almost 7 years now and it’s been very reliable: oil, breaks, and tires. It’s a Xdrive but I heard the 328 are very reliable I have no experience with M performance BMW/bigger engines.

What do you think it feels like compared to a porsche or higher end vehicle ? Would you call the driving feel any less in comparison ?
@michael-gd9ho11 ай бұрын
Well I think that the power difference is extreme between an '86 and an exotic or high end sports car like a Porsche, so yes there will be a fun factor with the higher end cars that this one will not have, but...I must say the handling differences may be much harder to notice as this car will turn with the best of them.
@arcelivez10 ай бұрын
@@michael-gd9hohave you actually tried that? Reviewers that have compared have said that this car is mostly up there with the fun factor with the much more expensive cars,despite being lesd powerful. Also porsche has a different weight distribution,so if you want a better car for drifting - it's clearly this car. But aside from drifting it probably will be s preference thing

Good review. Totally fair. Like you, I went from German luxury (Audi) to a 23 GR86. It is certainly louder. I disconnected the fake engine noise and it helped a lot on the highway. But the quality, reliability, handling, rwd, manual, light weight, handbrake - I would take twice the noise and be happy in this car!
@michael-gd9ho Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I agree 100%...totally happy with my car and switching from the BMW. This car is a blast to drive! I also disconnected the fake engine noise and it did help considerably.

Umm... Why do you keep the clutch pressed down while waiting in front of lights? It causes unnecessary stress on the throw out bearing. Why do you shift down into first without coming to a full stop or before reaching 5mph? It sounds like a tractor in 2nd sub 1500 RPM but its still better than 1st if you have 0 desire to go WOT. Why do you coast in neutral a few times while going through turns in the residential area? No offense but wouldn't a grand tourer like a beemer a Z or whatever suit you more according to this video instead of a sports car?
@stms4411 Жыл бұрын
Owners of this car need to be mindful of what this car was designed to do and the price point it was managed to hit. It’s a pure sports car (so road noise is an expected part of the bargain). Quality of materials does me just fine - esp for the fact that it’s MSRP is about 66% of the avg new car price. I’ve owned BMWs over the years (6 of them) and none of them were anywhere close to 32k in adjusted dollars - why wouldn’t the materials be of a higher grade of quality?
@ellisjackson3355 Жыл бұрын
The first three gears in the first gen are pretty tall and spaced out. Fourth and fifth are close. Sixth is a tall over drive. I'm doing 80 mi/hr at 3500 rpm

Am I the only one with a ‘23 GR86 that’s dealing with an extremely noisy rattle in the driver’s side door? The dealership incorrectly diagnosed the speaker and replaced it, and I knew that wasn’t the issue, but anyone else having this issue and know how to fix it?

Ok bare with me but nothing is more stupid than complaining about interior materials that look fucking fine and feel fine the "cloth material" is mostly fake suede/alcantara in spots you touch the most and the plastics have little glare and are probably more durable than any bmw you think is better. Whats cheaper? strong durable long lasting interiors or gaudy interiors with materials that make you go wow so fancy! and then falls apart by 100k miles nothing is luxurious about that. I'll never understand it I know you're older and value things like that more but im genuinely curious because ive been in nicer cars and I've been in a gr86 and that would never cross my mind plus if there are no creaks or fragile feeling user interfaces like with other "luxurious" brand and the cup holders in those bmws man thats cheap xD. no offense tho just bugs me and confuses me (:
