So the same principle should be applied to barrel weights then? Or will that hurt barrel movement? Minimum weight further forward or set weights closer to action?

Fantastic advice Ben, I am just coming back to Sporting, I have a Beretta 682 Supersport 30 inch multi choke in immaculate condition, would you say 1/2 and 1/2 with standard choke would be ok until I Really get back into things? Or spend some money on custom chokes. All The Best Chris Ex AA Shot (quite a few years ago)

Hi Ben, thank you for this excellent video. Question: do you choose between pull away and swing through based on the speed of the clay? I can imagine that you use swing through on high speed clays and for the rest you use pull away?
@benhusthwaite98842 ай бұрын
@@robertvaningen9519 all lead related swing through has the fastest gun but it’s the slowest method
@hb9503222 ай бұрын
As always a very good explanation from Ben, but regardless of that I disagree (shooting all three methods). If you shoot maintained correctly, it is the most unrushed method which slows the whole picture down. I don't see why the clay and the gun are not going the same speed, when you execute it right. When the line is easy on crossers, it is my method of choice. If the lines are more complicated, or a quartering clay requires a very small amount of lead, ST or PA are my choice. BTW: No skeet completion on international level will be won with ST or PA. I think it is an advantage if you can shoot ML correctly.

OK, I'm not in a position to argue with a world champion and shooting instructor. A shooter I know recently scored 183 hits at Dornsberg, making him the best German shooter, while you scored three more with 186 hits. He shoots a lot with sustained lead, which probably cost him those 3 hits 😅

This is my first time watching Ben Husthwaite. I'm just getting into shotgun, so it should be no surprise it is my first time watching him. His voice and vocal mannerisms combined with his appearance he greatly reminds me of Eddie "the beast" Hall the power lifter. I find myself wanting to go to Britten just to shoot with him. not so much instruction, that would be great as I currently suck at crossing birds, but just to shoot with the dude and hear him talk and cut up. I live in Texas and am from north east Oklahoma in the mountains, so brits would probably get a giggle out of how I talk. probably get offended at how I cut up (joke). I'm rather uncouth. In any direction I think it would be a great time. Being Irish-American from the Ozarks a good old knuckle knocker between friends is a good time too if I do offend someone, my understanding brits see it that way also. Hey is a guy thing, we like to fight then drink some beer.

To Be Honest, some one who shoots at your level and you just tell it how it actually is. No fancy crap and just honesty. So much controversy over chokes. Im still running factory chokes in my u/o's and often wondered if I spend the money to get branded ones or just keep shooting the factory ones. After watching this I may save some coin for ammo and practice more.

This product has been a real savings for me. As I've gotten older, my ability to manage my cross-eye dominance has evaporated and my eye doctor cannot force one of my eyes to take charge through my contacts. This has really done it and I don't flinch anymore on crossers where my left eye would jump in and take control. Well done, Ben! See you at the World FITASC!

Interesting how you say that the idea of thinking about what to say to the camera after you have shot plays with your head. It reminds me of a member in a small club I used to shoot at. He used to be near top of the leader board consistently, but then brought his other half and they shot together. His game dropped to a point where he was hitting maybe 40% tops. Everyone noticed it was once he brought his wife. We all thought it was that same mental aspect wrecking havoc. I myself shoot terrible when I go for a 'practice', then on competition days I just feel and perform alot better. Its such a mental game.... but I love it!

I shoot Skeet and 1/2 usually. A few weeks back whist at a sporting setup we had 4 pairs of high incomers at a fair distance (30+ yds id guess) I had a group of about 6 people behind me that were chatting amongst themselves about how they should choke up etc. I knew it didnt matter but popped a 7 1/2 shot into my bottom barrel. I didnt miss one of the birds and they both broke nicely.

Hi Ben. Quick question on Eye dominance if I focus on something like a telegraph pole with my thumb both eyes open Then close my right eye my thumb stays completely covering the pole but do it with my left eye then my thumb jumps to the left. Does that mean ism left eye dominant. If so would your D rail correct that for me. Kind regards Nick

Watching a lesson from Ben exhibits perfectly how difficult clay shooting really is... when most people who are NOT in the sport think that you just move the gun around and pull the trigger.... I have seen so many people having "strong opinions" until they found themsleves in the peg with a shotgun in their hands....
