I know this video is old and not much traffic, but I am trying to put a Level 9 together and I can't get the loop inside the loop built. I got the outside, but I can not seem to get the inner loops done. I have tried to do it several ways and just can't get it. I had it at one point, but I didn't have enough of the rail to make the turn afterwards, so I had to undo it and try again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It sounds like you're on the right track. I used a couple of cylinders (a water jug and a paper roll from memory) to help form the spirals, you could try that. I must admit I also ordered extra rail so I could start fresh if I got frustrated with how it was forming up. Number 9 is a monster, very hard to get working at all, almost impossible to run it consistently - you can see a ball or two hung up in that vid. Good luck ;-)

@@la7zy505 Thank you for the help! I will give that a shot. Where did you order spare parts from? I tried to find some, but the only place that seemed promising looks like it's gone or never really was.
@la7zy5055 ай бұрын
@@rocketsurgeon11 Yep, I think you're right - it seems spacerails.com died some years ago. How time flies. Looks like there's a fair amount of apparently genuine parts on eBay, Amazon and even AliExpress. Buyer beware, but they are probably more reliable sources than spacerails.com ever was.

The level 3 space rail took me 10 days to complete...
@MikeMPharmaCyclist8 ай бұрын
That seems like a really long time to be honest. That was my first build and I built it in probably a day but it was over 3 nights after work of maybe two hours each really. I will say that I actually think sleeping and taking a break and coming back to it is very helpful because your brain takes in new information and wires it better and you sort of get a new perspective the next time you look at things. There is also a lot of great reference in the manual that shouldn't be overlooked even though it can be difficult to translate the Chinese if you are not a Chinese speaker.

Very fine !! Are rails made with metal or plastic ? 😀

Plastic; posts are thin metal. You wouldn't want metal rails though it would be way too heavy; plus some of the newer sets glow in the dark.

I hope you didn't give up! Yep, those loops are horrible, and mine ended up rather squished after much adjustment. I think the trick is making sure the run down from the top and the first loop are REALLY smooth. Easier said than done X-/

If there was a power switch at the end of the rails (where the marble is picked up) that would turn the marble lifting mechanism to *on* and another power switch at the beginning of the rails (where the marble is released) that would cut power to the lifting mechanism, that would be at least 10 to 12% better.

Thanks. It's a great little game - quite simple on the face of it, but so many hours of "play" (work) and as challenging as you want it to be. You can just get it done and move on, or spend hours tweaking... and then start again with a different approach to the "critical path" and get a quite different result. Obviously my solutions are plain - no giant swinging arms or other "hacks" - but I enjoyed trying to solve each of the puzzles without looking at other people's designs. There are a lot of good additional puzzles in the Steam labs, but I do wish Zachtronics would put more work into expanding the game. Cheers

My boyfriend is a big fan of roller coasters and automatons so I am thinking about giving one of this sets as a present. Which one would yo choose? Can you tell me how big they are when they are built?
@la7zy5054 жыл бұрын
Howdy. I've added some info to the description if you want to check that out. I recommend you start your boyfriend off with Level 1 and maybe Level 4. That way he can get used to the quirks with Level 1, then pull it to bits and use it for spare parts when making the more advanced ones. Level 4 is a nice size, the site says 61 x 25 x 36 cm (24 x 10 x 14 inches). They get quite big and hard to move around from 5 upwards. Cheers

Nice work! Di you remember what you used to make the transparent tube around first level elevator?
@la7zy5054 жыл бұрын
thanks. the covers on the elevators are just office laminator sheets with a touch of. tape. just enough to stop the jolt of incoming balls knocking others out of the screw. cheers

la7zy great idea! Many thanks!
@la7zy5054 жыл бұрын
@@TheDjFac Now that I think about it, some of them may have been just standard office document sleeves - it doesn't take much to keep the balls in there, but if the sleeve is too rigid/restrictive the additional friction can cause the screw motor to struggle. I suppose it is kinda cheating, but... you can't get that kind of expert advice just anywhere ;-P

don't know why no one answer you in 7 months, but yes, you can join different sets or divide them: buy high level set and build three independent simple rail coasters, no problem. Of course you can build your personal coaster, in the video author presented default ones.

ever think of trying to use the gate switchers and spare parts to get all 9 of them linked together into one massive system?
@la7zy5055 жыл бұрын
Good question, but... this alone was a bit harder than it might appear. For example: while I was setting them up, the temperature would change a few degrees and previously stable rails would start spilling balls all over the place, and I'd have to go back to the first one and start again. By the time I'd done the work to make this little vid, I was suffering from SpaceRail fatigue - when the sound of a metal ball hitting the ground starts to trigger anxiety attacks, it's time to move on ;-)

Beautiful rugged country. If I crash my drone very bad it will take me a long time to save for another. I've barely learned to fly it and not brave enough to go far. It's hard where I am now to find airspace that is legal to fly in. I am from Idaho (northwest USA). I hate city living here in Ohio. Out west there is plenty of places to fly. My drone is an Autel Robotics. I get around 20- 30 minutes of flight time, (www.autelrobotics.com/x-star-premium/ ). Affording one DJI would be tough let alone crashing one and having to replace it.
