Armand! Good to see you doing well. Your inventory for the winter looks very impressive. I know that is a lot of work. I have been busy with infrastructure and a project helping a neighbor this summer. I made two sheds last winter with a roof from slabs, they were cedar , and I did something a little different from you. My bottom layer had flats pointed up, so the flat surfaces would fit together, and the capillary action of water would keep them from dripping. This is not something I learned, I just made it up, but the first year I have not seen any drips inside. I think with those type of roofs, a good pitch is better, at least 4 inches per foot, better 6. 10 cm rise per 30 cm run, or 15cm rise per 30cm run. I have a little Milwaukee 6ft/2m tape measure hanging from a clip on my belt, makes conversions easy. I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving, and may God Bless you this winter. I don't know your faith, but I am a Bible believing Baptist and bear witness to you and yours that Jesus Christ is the son of God, died for our sin, and was raised from the dead by God and sits on his right hand side in heaven today. The King James Bible is the true word of God.

Cool intro! You’re a true tree monkey. Neighbour Elaine here, you did well to get that edge lumber to solidly build the addition to the calf shelter. I saw your cumfy “lounge seats” under the roof. Looks like a great place to rest and rehydrate. Nice to meet young Brenda too, she seems pretty chill. And I’m curious what a ton of wood looks like. Hope sales continue for you Johnny. Cheers from down the road.

There is a pile of wood in that crap pile as well. My brother and I started our first business out of a pile of crap like that. It got us off the ground, it was free product for us that we processed and sold. Local contractors gave us permission when they were done with it. We had a year and a half of free product, we spent our entire career in the firewood business. You just have to take opportunitys when they come.

100% I personally haven't bought wood for a few years now. I usually hit up the logging blocks and gather wood off there burn piles. Was lucky enough to get first dibs on this stuff just min away from woodyard aswell. Definitely a ton of wood go's up in flame every year in these piles. Lots of work but lots of money aswell. Have you considered putting your splits on pallets instead of on the ground ? Look for free pallets when you are out and about.
@armandshighlife12 күн бұрын
We keep all the wood that go's through our processor on pallets, our boiler wood pile still sits on the ground. But reflects on the price. Slowly gathering pallets for the boiler wood pile. Maybe next year's pile might sit on pallets. Cheers🪵🪵🪓

Yep those split-fires are nice and quick once you get the hang of using a two way. Oh you can order them at different heights. I think the one you rented was the low one one but they make them much taller, save your back. Cheers!

Was a Great unit, bit small in height but wasn't to bad considering bending down to pick up most of the rounds. Though it was going to be a pain but didn't really notice the height as an issue. Well worth the rental fee for a week. Cheers 🪵 🪓

If you are looking at getting a Split Fire Spliter, take a look at the 1165v, It's their new vertical splitter with a 4 second cycle time. You can add options for a log lift, side table, knee operation, etc. I think it fills a gap in the market between box store splitters and the entry level commercial splitters. It is hard to beat a commercial quality vertical splitter for a solo firewood operation.

I'll have to take a look at them. I prefer my Range Road as it cut and splits all in one unit, but with the most ugly wood I bring in for boiler wood a splitter might find a place in the wood yard. Cheers! 👍🪵🪵🪓

Did I miss something? Did the processor die for good? Or was it a kot easier to buck where you got the wood than haul logs?
@armandshighlife13 күн бұрын
Boiler wood, all the ugly stuff no one wants. Bucked up on the logging block and usually hand split at home but went new route and rented a small gas splitter for the week to catch up. Cheers the old RR still running just no logs to feed it at the moment

Hi Johnny and mini-Johnny, my goodness isn’t Joseph growing up. And he’s keen to be right in the middle of things. Neighbour Elaine here, saw how low your boiler wood supply was getting, and now it’s back up. And it didn’t take long for you to master the rhythm of the Split Fire, good job. Definitely a lot more hands on than your RR, but it got the job done. Enjoy the blue skies, and the leaves before they’re all gone. Cheers from down the road.

Nice little unit you got ! I think it's better to invest in a little processor notheless, cause you can use it as a processor, and a splitter. And if you go for a splitter, get a 4 way ! So you can just one split the most of your boiler wood !

@Allen-w9d29 күн бұрын
No grease cap on the end of the hub and yet you said you were about ready to go. No, no you are not. That grease cap keeps the bearing grease inside and the dirt outside. Without that grease cap that outer bearing will not last long when your grease becomes a gritty grinder paste.

@@armandshighlifesorry I'm my comment came across as rude, I didn't mean that. Lots of great videos on KZbin of how to properly set up trailer bearings. I will say this though, there's no such thing as too much maintenance, make sure you keep caps on it,good seals in the back of the hub, and clean grease in it.
