What did you use to create the mold/buck? How did you get the right measurements and curvatures? The more info you can provide, the better my chances for success. Thanks.
@stormtrooperguy2 жыл бұрын
The vac form tool is made from MDF, fiberglass and bondo. I did these parts entirely by eye. I didn't have any measurements or anything. I traced by body on paper, drew way the armor should look like, and used that as a reference to carve up the mdf. I glued stacks of mdf and shaped it with band saws, sanders and whatever else that could do the job.

Cool music. Anybody know the composer and/or name of the piece?

What material did you use? I'm trying to make the thickest armor possible with one forming.
@stormtrooperguy4 жыл бұрын
VexTheMercenary I did all my armor in styrene.
@Theorex4 жыл бұрын
@@stormtrooperguy How thick can you get it before it is too thick? Also is it the best material to go thicker with?
@stormtrooperguy4 жыл бұрын
@@Theorex no idea really... i always try to use the thinnest material that will work, not the thickest. i usually use 0.080 ga. plastic, which is only a couple of mm thick.

The music was awful. BUT, that doesn't really matter too much as the finished helmet is what I wanted to see. It was obviously very well sculpted and the finished casting looked excellent. amazing job lads, keep it up.

@HoboLyra6 жыл бұрын
You dye each resin layer so you can see coverage. They just dyed the last layer black before pouring it.

hi, will the Rebound 25 - Trial Size be enough to mold the entire helmet?

No. A trial size isn't nearly enough.

+Brian Anderson thank you for the reply. It's actually my first time making a helmet. May I ask how much exactly I should need because I need to ship it to my country and I don't want to make that mistake of having to ordering more in the end. While I'm at it can you advise me which material I should need if I want to cast a fiberglass helmet?

I was kinda thinking about making a Dredd helmet but I might just buy one. Do you sell any of yours or know where I can buy a decent one? 2012 Dredd that is.
You skipped the tricky bit! How did you make the mould? Or rather, the master for the mould?

Please do you know what the best vinyl or pvc sheets to use for thermo-vacuum-forming a vinyl dashboard for a car. Not the rigid stuff, after forming it should have a little flexibility to work with the layer of cushion underneath it. Please help!!

Amazing. Silly question but what kind of black do you use? I'll be painting one up and i can't decide if i should do it Satin Black or add a little blue to it.

I was leery of the paint dabbing technique at first but I just used it today for my Mando helmet and man does it look nice. Used a dark brown paint on tan. Kandosii!
