He's sure come a long way from his street-singing days.

Did Herbie play key-tar during this set as well? I saw this live and remember him playing keytar.

...yup, and he was hamming it up...he and John Mayer put their backs against one another as they traded solos at the front of the stage...I was snapping photos with a disposable camera from near the front of the crowd...never did figure out what happened to that film...

Should’ve cut the sax solo about 4 bars sooner. Still a great time tho

I'd be honored if some fans of early John Mayer would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of CLARITY and QUIET on my channel in tribute to the master. Real live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace out.

Daniel Hernández He is a freakin' god on sax. But Mayer's solo is so fantastic and brave.. I like the jazzy touch here.. what do you think?
@LukeDallert8 жыл бұрын
i'm actually a guitarplayer and I know a lot of players. Pat Metheny is fantastic and he is definitly another level than any musicians you see here on stage. But I think his guitarstyle is pretty different from John Mayer. I think john Mayer's new guitarplayer Zane Carney is fucking great. I like his playing more than Mayers. you should check him out. Zane and Bob would make a great combination...
@LukeDallert8 жыл бұрын
Well I forgot to say.. the person of John Mayer does not make him a bad musician. If Bob Reynolds would be like that his playing could still be great..

...toward the end of the set, Herbie strapped on a keytar, and hammed it up, playing with his back leaning against Mayer’s at the front of the stage...

Haha John went a bit Wes Montgommery style with the octaves :D
@septiemsensa481811 жыл бұрын
It does contain skill, but jazz contains alot of skill and there are alot of better jazz guitarists then John Mayer. Sweet song though!
@liesheal6 жыл бұрын
Septiem Sensa John doesn’t really claim to be a jazz fusion player. He certainly exhibits jazz stylings but is far more rooted in blues

I walked up on this show around 5:30pm that Sat. A friend said "check out Herbie Hancock". It was a gourgoes day and the music was just flowing over everyone - people were having a good time. Then the guitar player starts to play and I say to my friend " I don't know that guy but Herbie always has good players". Little did I know he would announce "John Mayer on guitar" at the end of it. Right then I knew Mayer would go on to greatness.

Thought his solo was very technically difficult. Much harder than simply "shredding" over it.

Well I actually don't have a mp3 link for this one. I uploaded this song of the Bonnaroo concert right of from a CD of the concert. But there are ways how to download videos from KZbin to mp3 (for example youtubedownloader etc.). You might try some searching about that on google.

0126578 hi there, I happened to dig out this video and I'm die to get the headhunters cd from bonnaroo. I know this is a decade ago but any chance that you can share the files of the whole cd? I really can't find it anywhere on the net. Thanks a million!!!
