Dette var starten på den svenske stafett kollapsen, siden har Norge vunnet alle WM stafettene. Siden har den ene svensken etter den andre tatt en Brink på stafetten.

synd att ingen avslöjade att han drababts av hjärtflimmer förrän 16 år senare. Förstår inte varför, för han fick ta emot så mycket skit i onödan.

Jørgen Brink er stor,går ifra og være en av verdens beste i sprint til og bli en av de beste på langløp på ski :)

There is an urban legend that Brink lost a vast amount of time on his leg (to this day, our Czech commentator Svacina keeps on mentioning "a minute or two advantage" whenever men´s relay is run at WC or OG). But actually, the split time of Norway and Germany was only 23 seconds after the 3 leg so Brink didn´t lose too much over 10 km and he managed to secure bronze medal with a mere 10 seconds´ advantage he had over the Russian squad at the beginning of his leg.

Sverige hade ett superlag med Södergren/Fredriksson/Elofsson/Brink. Brink var en av dåtidens absolut vassaste spurtare och hade haft en kanonsäsong 02/03. Tyvärr fick han hjärtflimmer under stafetten. Dock var dräkterna avskyvärda under här perioden. En throwback till senare delen av 70-talet då man också körde i blått. Sveriges tävlingsfärg i längd är vit, med lite gula inslag.

En ussel innsats* I tillegg er det lagt der i fra. Å møte veggen slik Brink gjorde, men fortsatt pushe på har ingenting på innsats å gjøre, det kan jeg garantere. Slutt og snakk om ting du ikke har greier på.

@@davd1986 It's not a heart attack man. The type of a-fib he has comes and then passes a couple of times a month and usually for short periods of time. You get a really high pulse and competing is obviously impossible, but when it passes you are back to normal. Also, he wasn't diagnosed until 2009 so at this point he didn't know he had it.

Would not be surprised if Petter Northug was in the same situation, he would have slowed down and followed Brink and then exploded the last 50 meters. He loves to rub it in.

No because Brink was not moving fast at all, and they would have risked getting caught by others behind them. Northug would rub it in if he could, but he's not an idiot.

If you're not from scandinavia, here's the deal: the 90's was terrible for swedish sport. Not because they were doing that bad in international sport, but they were horrified over the progress in Norway. To the swedes in general they've always had this big brother-complex towards norwegians. While they had Bjørn Borg and Ingemar Stenmark we had nothing but skiers and skaters that was famous in scandinavia but unknown to the rest of the world. They had Ingemar Johanson, a silver from the football world cup in '58 and one of the best hockey teams. We had nothing. Then things turned around. The norwegian football team suddenly outranked Sweden! The norwegian alpine team crushed Sweden! The norwegian Christian Ruud was ranked top 40 in tennis and the norwegian cross-country team was annihiliting the swedes to such en extent that half the swedish population ran on happy-pills! There's more! Norwegian track&field-athletes suddenly overtook the swedes! We got a world champion in boxing! The hockey team that earlier on lost 10-0 against the top ranking teams suddenly beat Sweden and Canada in the world championship AND the olympics! Unbelivable! Our women had the best football AND handball teams in the world! And this from a country with a population half the size of Manchester! And as long as we're in Manchester: the 90's ended with a norwegian matchwinner in the champions league: Ole Gunnar Solskjær! This is the reason why it was all but extremly hurtful for the swedes to see Alsgård destroying Brinck in 2003: it was just another blow from a nation they used to laugh and make jokes about! Finally and not sport related: after two swedish wins in the Eurovision Song Contest and Norway finishing last more than other nations the table suddenly turned. In 1995 Norway took their second win in the ESC! This fact pisses the swedes off more than you can imagine. Now they're final comfort is their proud history in car manufacturing. And yes, we have none of that in Norway. So to all you swedes out there: enjoyyour Volvo and SAAB, I'm sorry, enjoy your Volvo for as long as you can. PS: did I mention that a norwegian hockey player scored the decisive goal in the swedish hockey league? Now, THAT must have hurt!!! :o)

That's a good and accurate synopsis. You forgot that SAAB filed for chapter 11 not too long ago. So now the Swedes are demolished totally. It's a total eclipse. And now Norway has become the biggest employer of Swedes slaving as waiters and waitresses in the Norwegian restaurant industry. They are the new gypsies.

This is hilarious. I don't even know where to begin. To claim that Norway overtook Sweden because of a few individuals accomplishments is ridiculous. Norway deserved some success, no doubt about it. But a top 40 ranked player in tennis or a upset in one hockey game isn't a "turn around". Mens football during the 90´s: Norway best FIFA rank 2nd. Swedens best FIFA rank 2nd and a bronze medal. So obviously Sweden had more success. Germany had the best women national team during the 90´s, not Norway. It is true though that Norway had the best women national team in handball. Poor Sweden, or was it? After all they had the best MEN national team in handball during that time. In tennis, Norway had a top 40 ranked player, very good. Sweden had Edberg, a number one ranked. Enough said really. It is not even worth to compare the two in hockey. The problem with your logic is that you take a small achievement by one national team or a person in one specific moment and applying that to the whole country. By the same logic i could argue that Norway doesn't have cross country skiing or Northug isn't the best sprinter anymore because Hellner won the sprint 2011, yeah that's right, Sweden have turned it around, Norway have nothing left lol Quote of the day: "That's a good and accurate synopsis." - Ventende.

+Gambler150 You are right in most of the things there. I guess the point wasn't that the norwegians overtook the swedes, but the fact that the norwegians started to do it well in events where the swedes were dominating. The swedes rocked in football in the beginning of the 90s. Semi-final in Euro 92, where Jan Eriksson's 2 goals sent France and England out of the competition, and bronze in world cup 94. (In my eyes they were the best team this competition.) But you say that Germany had the best women national team. That's not 100% accurate. Norway and USA were the dominating teams. Norway got silver in world cup 91, won euro 93, gold world cup 95, bronze olympics 96, semi final in world cup 99 and gold in Olympics 2000. Only time when the germans were in front of norway was euro 97. So I would say the norwegians dominated more than the germans. :)

+MrUbaBaluba I can see your point about the Norway being more successful then Germany. However you said that the only time Germany was in front of Norway was in Euro ´97. Well, I am telling you now that that's not 100% accurate ;) Germany actually won Euro´91 and Euro´95 as well.
