It’s a shame about the dead bird hanging from the coupler cover plate, spoiling the brand new livery, but i doubt the bird suspected the train.

After all these years Virgin are soon to be no more. It's a pity Virgin and SNCF culdn't have bid for the franchise (but Branson needed Stagecoach's money) - but obviously Branson sees more profit to be made with Brightline (Virgin Trains USA) in Florida. It's ironic really that the last time the franchise was awarded to First, Branson threatened to take them to court and this time he couldn't care less.

John Smith my comment was based on the eight return journeys i made from manchester to preston , these journeys were one or two a year to the lake district so quite spread out and not once did i manage to get a seat and had to keep my rucksack on as there was no luggage space , The best i got was when the drinks lady and her trollywas jammed in at the side of me for the whole Journey and i could buy coffee and sandwhiches Without moving lol , the onboard virgin staff were always exemplary and always looked as fed up as the passengers but kept smiling and doing their best to help , as for the hst's even though they replaced my beloved deltics on the east coast , i was blown away when i first travelled on one from bath to corsham wiltshire in about 76, And many many years later on the midland main line they still felt modern roomy and comfortable, Will i miss them ? Very much so , more than virgin anyway .

I agree! I’ve never had any problems with Virgin Trains and it’s sad to see them go. Avanti look as though they will be just as good as they are using the same pendelino. I’m not sure about service because I haven’t been on one before

Anthony Wright well lucky for them their not buying tickets off me to stand packed in like a sardines for the entire journey where as i was buying tickets off them to do just that so good ridence virgin

Fantastic video there, Super footage and a nice DMU. But it does sound like a bus! More specifically a Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 or ADL Enviro 400 but i dont suppose youknow what that means! Did you report WolfyClips too? I did and gave him a lecture about how its not nice to bully in comments on his channel - the sort of thing you'd say to a 5 yr old!

Some services carry on to Sheffield and some service stop and start from derby the Croos Country train carry on to Sheffield

Trainspotter 2778 . This wasn't always a commuter station, it was purpose built to serve the Royal Ordinance factory that lay on the north side of the track. The station was closed after the war (before Beeching) and the original plan may have had 3 platforms and a small martialling yard with the track running around the depot on the same standard guage track and in particular, the amunition silos which are still in existence. The original depot and therefore the station had no owner other than The Crown except one small corner which belonged to Vickers (submarines).

I think that it was only the 331’s that were on test today as over the school holidays the 195’s have been running on test, you get a good view of them at Winwick as they are virtually right in front of you. Ned

Arriva still exists in my mind they will always get called Arriva by me as that name has stock to me ever since I was very young. RIP Arriva Trains Wales 🏴
