This is great content!! I spent years listening to scanner traffic in my home state, I wish I recorded it for posterity. This is exactly how I remember from the time frame . When alarm boards were actually in the police station before central stations. Also before MDT when every license check, warrant queries etc… had to go over the air. (And hope the NCIC, or LEAPS wasn’t down for backup or purging).

What a great vibe all around. As a kid I watched WSBK all the time (especially late night); out of all the stations I picked up over cable in the 80s, it remains the most memorable one to this day. Thank you. :)

Growing up in Chicago I loved Steve and Gary. I actually bought the 45 of the Wimp Song and they cut out a line. “I’ve got boogers in my nose, I’m afraid of negros…I’m a wimp. I remember even as a kid in the 80’s that was kind of pushing it. Looks like they cleaned it up for this TV show.

Studied with him at his workshop in 1970. I was about 18. Bernstein said, "He's great. Milwaukee is lucky to have him." Heard him conduct this piece back in the 70's, also on tour, a fine Shostakovich 1st, and with the Boston Symphony and New York Philharmonic. It's true, he did concoct excellent programs that were balanced and interesting, never standard or predictable.

Around 1977 I saw Milwaukee Symphony/Schermerhorn on television when I lived in Boston: Prokofiev 5th. I later wrote the MSO and they knew nothing of this, which surprised me. There are other performances, I believe. It would be good to find them.

I agree with you. I am still trying to find the video portion of this concert. Nobody seems to know about this and other MSO TV concerts from this era, including the producers of this concert, the Milwaukee PBS station.

Marvin Junior...a voice like nobody else on earth. I saw this show in Pittsburgh the same year. The Dells had an unmistakable sound that can't be copied. Johnny Carter was with the Flamingo's for years and sang falsetto lead on one of their earliest hits, "A Kiss From Your Lips" ! If you like 50's music, look it up and listen to it...he too was simply one of a kind. Add Verne Allison, Chuck Barksdale, and Michael McGill and you have the greatest doo-wop/ soul group there ever was and ever will be. Sure I liked them all, but these guys were incomparable ! Some say February 3, 1959, the music died...I say it was just starting. When Verne and Michael pass on, too me that will be the day that true soul music died !

Westley Bell had absolutely nothing to do with trying to stop the supremes courts decision to strike down abortion rights! Absolutely nothing! Westley Bells entire campaign is being funded by AiPAC a pro Israeli lobbyist group whose major donations are from far right rich Republican donors! AiPAC is responsible for Jamal Bowman the congressman from New York loosing his re-election last week! They are coming after those who spoke out publicly against the attack of Palestinians living along the Gaza Strip by the Israeli military! AiPAC has stated Corey Bush is next! They are pouring thousands of dollars in campaign advertising to replace Cori Bush with Westley bell! Although Westley Bells campaign is being funded by republicans donors he claims he is a democrat! WE THE PEOPLE say let Westley bell stay were he is doing great work as county executive for the residents of St. Louis county and send Cori Bush back to Washington for another term.

When Y108 FM (Chicago 'burbs) went out of business, there was about a week gap between broadcasters. During that time, someone broadcast a string of novelty songs on a loop, and that was my introduction to this song. Something just triggered in my brain today to make me come find out where it came from.
