Long bed with round headlights. Best model of square bodies imo.

You need a tune up. I'm just a bit south of you in Kansas... I'll make it start without having to pump the pedal AND it'll stay running as soon as it fires up... even during the winter. Also, it won't stumble when you punch it.

Sweet sounding KittyCat twirling an Allison auto gearbox ,nice tidy Jimmy wagon with a lift tag axle. Wonder if GM do this model in right hand drive?, be fab to import one into the UK.
@midwestmechanics192121 күн бұрын
This one was converted from a service truck into a grain truck. Talked to the guy who built it and they also made some silage trucks that sold across the US. They extended and double framed what must've been a service truck so that's why it has 6th gear unlocked on the Allison. I was very happy to use it this harvest.
@basiltaylor891021 күн бұрын
@@midwestmechanics1921 So the lorry(truck) was converted by the owner at his garage , workshop from a flat bed to a bulk grain carrier, a very neat job with the Primrose or York style lifting tag axle. Nice to hear the Allison auto has all six gears working? a good spread for driving on the flat and the hills, as in the Cotswolds the hills are steep, the roads narrow and twisty. If a similar lorry were built in the UK, be a DAF 65 CF COE chassis with a Cummins 6BTA ISME an automated clutch and manual gearbox. Would not be that difficult to fit the 6 speed Allison auto to the DAF, a far better choice and more robust.

I like the Chevy Diesel! It deserves better. Give it some tlc, then report back. I don´t even know what I just watched… But Y´all seem quite normal, not on crank. Good for You, I hope You prefer trashing shitboxes around in the future, too. Living on a farm DOES have its perks. Kind Regards

@@midwestmechanics1921 No, the content is okay- just being kids on a farm. But a little more context would be nice about whats going on. What is it You´re doing or what You about to. Or what shitbox´s turn it is, now. The video seemed a little all over the place. At one moment we did donuts and cut into irrigation work and no comment- that´s what I mean. You do what You can, One can only piss with the cock one got. Kind Regards

@@midwestmechanics1921 Thanks, no worries. This is a 1st for me, someone states my opinion matters. Normally nothing happens or I get an eff u back. You could do better by introducing what´s happening. I enjoy watching others peoples rides, that´s why I liked the little diesel. That thing would fit perfect on German roads. It would suck on the Autobahn but otherwise it´s perfect. Kind Regards

I don't know about any of your other viewers , but you've convinced me that you're too young to know what you're talking about . First off ; when these trucks first csme out , late in the summer of 1972 , we nicknamed them as " Square fenders " to distinguish them from the " round fender " trucks of 1967 to 1972 . They were never called square bodies . Secondly ; it either has straight pipes , or it has glass packs. It can't be both ways . Straight pipes has always meant , that there are no mufflers in the exhaust system .
@midwestmechanics19214 ай бұрын
Everyone would call a 79 a squarebody online so you're in the minority there. "Straight pipe as in true duals with no catalytic converter"
@midwestmechanics19214 ай бұрын
If you have nothing but negativity to offer maybe consider watching another channel, thank you.
@bobbrinkerhoff35924 ай бұрын
@midwestmechanics1921 I could introduce you to a group of people that were buying these trucks brand new back in the mid seventies that would all call one a square fender . Supposedly this square body BS started with the '81 front end redesign . As for having no catalytic converter , that was the reason for the " Big 10 .when that truck was new , anything over 6001 lb. GVW was exempt. from running cats . The Big 10s came as either 6050 , or 6200 GVWs . I'm not being negative , only trying to keep the record straight . You seem to be having a problem with receiving constructive criticism .
@midwestmechanics19214 ай бұрын
You have to remember the title is simply to get the most people to find the video. Saying I'm too young to know what I'm talking about is not constructive criticism. I'm glad you're at least very passionate about trucks.
@livewire27595 күн бұрын
Yeah, the term "square body" came from Ford guys, since Ford never really named their trucks like Chevy did. Ford guys use terms like "bump side", "dent side" and "square body", which refers to the trucks Ford made from '80 to '96... or so. I HATE it when Chevy guys use that term, but it did start with the redesign in '81. That term may be popular now, but I'll never use it. I've never heard the term "square fenders"... around here we just called them "70s Chevy's" when I was a kid. The engineers who designed them named the series "Rounded Line"... oddly enough... And I'll back you up on the "straight pipe" deal... it does in fact mean no cats, no mufflers, nothing but pipes. It amazes me that in this age when everyone has a computer in their pocket with access to literally EVERY piece of information mankind has accumulated throughout history... nobody bothers to actually use it to find the proper meanings of words and phrases.
