Many years ago while doing traffic, we had a XF Ford Falcon ute as an unmarked car. Complete with a hay bale in the back. Back when you reached out and put a revolving blue light on the roof. No LEDs hidden in the dash or anywhere.

Just pre GFC, Newman W.A. traffic got an unusual unmarked deception cruiser, & it was a cracker. I was a north west truckie, so I saw it quite a few times parked up on the side & waiting. It was a Pajero pulling a camper van, & all the fruit. Roof rack shade awning, Engel , slide out cooker, the lot. Of course it couldn't catch anyone but they had to use it for its stated purpose, at least for a while, before it was relegated to its intended purpose full time.

@@vadimarsenie9182 Lack of federal protection, cheap imports, failure to keep up with the SUV market, they failed to lock down a solid export program and corner other markets outside of Australia, the Global Financial Crisis and Australia's high inflation, etc Many factors that lead to the collapse of the Australian auto industry. Which is a shame, because the last Aussie-built Commodore was a phenomenal car.
