Gosh... I want to listen to this song with you singing it in french, Alison... and with a fully-fledged string orchestra behind you! This is so 'chanson-française', so Brel, so Aznavour in its deepest structural root - just with an electro-pop dress on top! Truly breathtaking pop at its absolute best!... Loved it in 2017 - love it even more now in 2024! Quite the truly honest, heartwrenching 'classic-Moyet'! Thank you so, soooo much !!! 😘

Was and still IS an amazing song, every version! Simply because Alison knows how to write lyrics that intrigue, delight, give insight, and prove once again, why she is one of the best of the best of the UK's singer songwriters!

Fantastic version. Essex contains several of my all time fave songs from Miss Moyet including this one, Satellite, And I Know, Getting Into Something, Dorothy, and Whispering Your Name. I can't wait for the new album !!! 💜

I met Alison in Philly during the Essex tour - was so acoustic and lovely and pure Moyet and when she ended the night with an almost a capella version of Ne Me Quitte Pas, you could have heard a pin drop! And when she took out her HARMONICA to play on Dorothy, we all cheered, it was an amazing show, and was the night I got to meet her before and after concert!

@@Amberbaer469npa LOVE it , great story !! I was living in San Fran briefly when Alison brought the Essex tour to Slim's. It was a great set but towards the end peeps hollered out suggestions from the album that she hadn't played and Alison joked "what do you think I can get this lot (pointing behind her to the band) to practice ?!! She acquiesced finally and did an acapella version of Satellite and we went crazy !!

What you are calling the original is not actually the original because it was reproduced and rerecord for the essex album

Saw you sing with Vince back in 79 or 80 at the Birmingham Odeon. This is a great song.
