Unfortunately poor design. The new one has a different design completely which solves the premature failure problem. I'm about to replace mine soon, not because it failed, but to reduce the chance of engine failure.

Quick question, is this your veichle, and what are the signs it needs to be replaced, i get an occasionally rattling when stopping, i do want to change rotors and pads since they are 5 years old. It is driving me nuts, I have noticed a small oil leak, but I noticed last time i did a oil change i didn’t put the filter on tight enough and it backed itself off some and it was barely tighter than hand tight. It comes and goes I notice it more when my foot’s off the gas and i’m just rolling down the road at 25-30 mph as im applying the brakes sometimes, i also notice a little loss of power when the AC is running

@@tigerfreek2001 is your brake pedal seem harder to press to stop, that is supposed to be a sign is failing, or oil leaking from bottom of pump. This is my daughters vehicle she planned on purchasing, and I was doing research for her and this is basically only detrimental issue with the motor (besides auto industries bs direct inject design with no wash for intake valves). A lot of people and mechanics claim due to lack of oil change. I recommended to her to use full syn changes at 5k instead of 10k, especially since she has the larger motor with the turbo.

@@philscott9405 I run Ow-20 Mobil 1 extended performance, change at 20-30% life. doesn’t seem harder, is the pump near the pulleys? It sounds like my noise is coming from passenger side which could be a tensioner in thinking or maybe just change the belt it is going on 5 years old this month
