Hyouka is about Hotaro Oreki who has a cynical view of life, and is not uninterested in what he calls "The Rose Colored Life " where he doesn't want to do extra curriculum activities, excel in his grades, or pursue romance. He intends to live by his motto "If I don't have to I won't, If I have to Make it quick." However he joins the classic club on request of his older college sister to keep it from disbanding as a favor to her, as said club was an important part of her adolescence. There he meets Eru Chitanda, a girl feels with boundless curiousity and the epitome of the rose colored life. And much to his frustration he falls head over heels for her. Worse yet Chitanda finds out he is a mini Sherlock (Thanks to Oreki's friend Satoshi who also joins the club and is trying to ship them.) And Oreki since he can't say no to Chitanda solves a series of mysteries some mundane some small mini arcs to appease her curiosity and slowly learn the value of a rose colored life. Not really featured in this AMV is a fourth member of the Club Mayaka who has a crush on Satoshi but can't stand Oreki's apathetic attitude. The Anime is basically a series of whodunnit mysteries used to from four young peoples coming of age stories. Much of the more fanciful imagery are visual metaphors to show the characters' inner thoughts.
