I think he was imitating the spark coming from the gloves in the stag show. In the stage show, he's charging up his hands to shoot lightning from his fingertips. Of course, this production doesn't have it. So instead of shooting lightning, they're safely throwing ribbons in the air and making popping noises.

in a way it's not actually breaking the fourth wall we as the audience are as jellical cats at this jellical ball not the audience. But even if that wasn't true in a real performance cats are running around the audience playing and doing cat stuff rum Tum tugger once hip shook in my face 😈

@@mrgwaed2852did you go home and die of happiness afterwards? lol. i’m teasing, but that’s awesome. i don’t recall the cats running into the audience in the version i saw live.. bummer! but yeah, if ever the show introduces a breaking of the fourth wall, it’s in the first song.. i’ve never heard it explained as the audience is cats there to watch the performance.. only that the cats know they are performing and that the audience is there watching.. but i like your explanation..

@@jillybeangaming I was fortunate to see cats in the west end in 1991 or 92 I think it was an awesome week for me. I was only 12 but we tore through the west end. I saw cats phantom, Les mis and Miss Saigon a different show every night. I've yet to be able to do that again as an adult 🐱

This is a college play, so of course it won't be as grand as the actual Broadway show.

@@Diamondgamervideos Sorry, you're right! I just had a closer look and it is Rumpleteazer. I couldn't tell because she went by so fast and Rumpleteazer's chorus costume is lighter than her main song costume, which sometimes makes her look closer to Etcetera.
