Could use some context clues on this. Is that the jungle is unforgiving, relentless, oppressive, and a cycle of ruthless consumption and slow decomposition and that he is describing it in all this brutality instead of mischaracterizing by romantisizing fantasies about it?

All of the methods I described are from peoples who are still here. There were some few tribes that went extinct, or their numbers declined so much that they integrated into another tribe, but there are still well over 500 American Indian tribes here in the US alone. I am not contributing to their erasure. Rather, my goals are largely in service of preservation of Indigenous knowledge. But statements such as yours that assume Natives are just extinct or something, certainly are.

no, that's Tillandsia usneoides, which is not a lichen at all, but a flowering plant in the pineapple family. The specific epithet "usneoides" means "looks like Usnea," because the two species are very similar in appearance and habit.

I have always thought the same. There’s nothing more awful than nature. It’s hell for any creature with a conscience. And therefore we hate it as is. And therefore we domesticate it. And therefore we stop it and hurt it when it attacks us. And I believe we are right to do so.

I make a tincture using vodka. Clean and cut usnea into tiny particles. Place in jar of vodka 40 days, in dark cupboard, giving a quick shake or turnover every 2 or 3 days. After 40 days strain and bottle. Usnea kills gram positive bacteria like staff infection. A few one drop applications days apart will get rid of warts, skin tags, precancerous melanoma. A drop under the tongue periodically treats the innards. Lasts about a year as it will lose potency over time.

Nearly all plant's juices are constantly combatting all bacteria, so if you use a mix of juicy plants it's a lot better than having no antisceptic.

Have used this when I had bronchitis. After the first cup of tea, the chest tightness released and I could breathe without coughing! 2 more cups over the rest of the day, and all my symptoms resolved. Never seen anything work so rapidly and without any side effects -- including antibiotics. I luv this stuff!!! 😄😄😄

Idk, the vast majority pf mushrooms aren't poisonous, and theres only like 8 deadly poisonous species out of thousands in the US. Chances are, if you misidentify a mushroom it will just taste bad. If you misidentify a plant you have a hogher risk of an agonizing death. For example, milkweed, wild parsnips, wild carrots, etc are far more difficult to differentiate from deadly toxic milkweed species, hemlock and hogweed respectively, and these poisonous lookslikes are far worse in toxicity than all American mushrooms bar the 2 species of death caps and a few gallerina species. Oh also you dont have to be acraid of agonizingly dying if you eat a mushroom thats too old or young, like what happens if you mistakenly eat unripe mayapple. And of course, mushrooms dont cause skin blisters like many plants like the manchineel, hogweed, or poison ivies.

Is Spanish Moss the same?
@mosaicthing57007 күн бұрын
No, not even close. Spanish moss is a flowering plant in the bromeliad family, a relative of the pineapple.
@mrdeanvincent6 күн бұрын
Spanish Moss got its Latin name (Tillandsia usneoides) from the fact that it resembles Usnea, but the two are actually very different. Spanish Moss is in the plant kingdom, while Usnea and other lichens are generally classified in the fungi kingdom (but they're actually the result of a symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae or cyanobacterium).

We should not stop with thinking deep about life and whether its worth anything or not. Most of us think a little bit and then forget and then again think about it later on in cycles without reaching a conclusion. We have to be thorough and then take action.
