It's a technique, but not really Tenchi-nage. Teach the proper one, then add variations. If you just do variations, students will not know the proper one.

@@LondonSelfDefenceAcademy Tenchi is more about the up and the down. Not the side or twisting, which many do. It's about raising one hand, lowering the other, while keeping them central to uke. Uke grabs you, and you manipulate yourself to the inside. The up down takes their balance and if done well they won't want to or can't free their grip.

The problem I've always had with any kind of eye gouge. 1. Its almost impossible to train under pressure 2. You have to explain to the police why you did that. 3. If you eye gouge a person and you dont have physical and or positional advantage, they will then do it to you.
@LondonSelfDefenceAcademy
@LondonSelfDefenceAcademy 8 күн бұрын
@BeepBoop2221 yes you are right. We would advise this as a last thing you try to do also long term damage to the person is devastating and living with the fact you made someone blind is horrible thing to even think of… From the other perspective if we are weaker than our attacker it could be useful to us.

Hi sensei, my opinion is that if you really want to go with the aikido spirit, you shouldn't use atemi, and you really don't need to use it too. If you spiral correctly, and move your body correctly, you could do the ikkyo fast and easy, without the atemi, and without getting punched by the other hand. It's in both situations you showed here.
@LondonSelfDefenceAcademy
@LondonSelfDefenceAcademy Ай бұрын
There are many different ways of looking at at if you can do the technique without atemi then great I can only relate to what I know and what works for me and for me without atemi if there is a skilled attacker it wouldn’t work. But as said whatever works for the person who is doing the technique. We all need to practice and learn more. Thank you for your comment 🙏
@shalom-shalom
@shalom-shalom Ай бұрын
@LondonSelfDefenceAcademy sensei, thanks for the answer. Of course you should do what works for you, just for my taste, i like to see brilliant aikido with no atemi. Using spirals and aiki age aiki sage, you control the opponent body very easily, so you can short the techniques, and make them very effective. I watched probably something like 200 aikido and aikijujitsu masters, so you really can do it in so many ways, i like the exploresion.

When he had no posture that’s where you got that control. He’s right on it but it don’t apply in styles like applied in styles like old school karate taekwondo old school tae kwon do Not sports. @Cholesterol-w1j lol, if the truth is what makes a liberal, I could qualify, but in reality, all political parties are shite. I don't knowingly participate or favor any of them. I just point out fallacies in both arguments. I don't like the liberal or consecutive goons you guys are trying to shove up the ass of the USA. You are apparently enamored by trump, I find him incapable of performing the job of president as much as that opposing chuck running for your opposition. That said, Mr. Segal is a fake actor trying to ( for some reason) act like he is another Bruce Lee. Which of course he never could be. And he has the attributes of trump to boot. You can argue and defend Segal till you are blue on the face. It won't change facts. He is spite for a martial artist, and I use that term loosely here, and shite for his poor acting So there, suck on that lollipop for a while.
