If the FET is used, and there is just a same power path for charging and discharging. There will be a current flowing through body diodes during either charging or discharging. how can we avoid it?

The secondary safety FET is always on during charging and discharging for the life of the battery and never turns off, so the body diode does not come into play only the RDSon of the FET, which is low. If the FET is turned off, this means a catastrophic overcharge event occurred, and the FET will remain off indefinitely and will prevent all future charging. The “permanent fail flag”, PF, will be set, which also turns off the discharge FET, and the battery is a brick.

Really good presentation except for a few places where the audio drops out. Thanks for making the slides downloadable from the Slideshare site.

Also, even when not cutting out, it sounds like a bad phone line, not an audio capture done at your end. But a really nice and useful presentation.
