@thehealthytravelerАй бұрын
Yes, absolutely
@cherylhughes29882 ай бұрын
Regarding the generator, do you really have to crawl under the van to switch to that setting? Also, 3 hours of ac is ridiculous. There should be an option to run it off the battery.
@thehealthytraveler2 ай бұрын
Yes, if the dealership did not set it to AC at delivery. Also, the coach battery is not powerful enough to run the AC which is why a generator is provided.

depending on the options a 23/23 will be about $110k-120, a 24/23 (which is identical) is about $10-15K more. A less expensive version is a 23/22 (with the older design, wheels, etc..) those for about $90

When city water hose is connected, do you have to leave the rear door open?
@thehealthytraveler7 ай бұрын
Yes. Although, you can close it enough so that the door doesn't pinch your hose. If you want to close your door and still use water, just fill up your fresh water tank and disconnect the hose. That works well when sleeping at night. You can always reconnect in the morning, if needed.

I can't speak for the promaster, but every car I have had needs to get air in its tires in the fall when I travel from Denver to Chicago and back. I think a combination of the colder weather and the elevation change are responsible. Hopefully that is the case for you.

Hey fellow PNW guy. We are 4 months into Winnebago Roam and very happy too. We purchased in NJ and road tripped across the USA to the Olympic Peninsula where we live in July 2023. I’m new to RVs and bigger rigs but after a few days driving back east I was feeling confident and super pleased w Ram Promaster 3500 performance. Dashboard controls not entirely intuitive but not difficult either. I too like cassette toilet. I slept in pop-top several times and did well. Has light, USB and 110 outlet (I think). The plumbing system controls are idiot proof. I used compressed air to winterize and it’s pretty darn easy. The drain valves on bottom are readily accessible. Roam has no LP or generator and I’ve used the built in Timberline gasoline fired heater and so far it works well and easy to use. My only quibble to date is that the different controls for inverter, heater, and tank/battery levels take time to figure out. Really appreciate various lighting options, multiple USBs, and adequate 110 outlets. I do wish there were some controls for the living space integrated up front. I mean at least one cabin light ! For those who wonder about about wheelchair lift, so far it’s been 99% reliable. My quibble here is way too many interlocks that prevent lift operation but that’s a discussion for another time.

Do you turn the Truma switch under the seat back on for heat in the winter?

Yes.

Hi, very good video. I’m still not completely clear on how to leave the low point drains under the seats. Am I understanding the steps correctly here… 1st open all valves under the seat to make sure all water is emptied. 2nd proceed with the antifreeze process. 3rd close the valves under the seat. Do not leave them open? Is this correct?
@thehealthytraveler11 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. The correct order should be: 1. Open low point valves to drain water. 2. Then, close all low point drain valves. 3. Set nautilus system to Winterize. 4. Proceed with winterization.
@myacousticlounge11 ай бұрын
@@thehealthytraveler yes thank you but that still doesn’t answer my question. After step 4 do I reopen the valves or do I keep them closed until the spring? Thanks again
@thehealthytraveler11 ай бұрын
Keep the valves closed. The only time you open the valves is to drain the water for winterizing. Dewinterizing is a different process and valves will still need to remain closed. I will publish a new video for that process soon.

Some people drive with the drains open to make sure they are truly empty. Also I use a n air compressor to blow out the lines. Also some people feel that's enough to do and no antifreeze is necessary except to pour some into the Grey tank And cassette toilet.

Wouldn't running antifreeze through the eco-hot unit introduce it into the Truma water heater?? This is a confusing point - because you'd also want to ensure no clear water is present there.... what to do?

Thanks for the thorough winterizing video. My wife and I are considering switching from a 4 season travel trailer to the rig you have now. Do you do anything to protect the coach batteries? Some sites recommend removing them to a climate controlled setting and trickle charging. Not sure what is recommended by Winnebago. Thanks in advance for your recommendation.
@thehealthytraveler Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I haven't considered and/or haven't had the need to consider keeping the house batteries in a climate-controlled environment since I usually use the van and/or head down to AZ in the winter. With house batteries on my previous travel trailers, I've never stored them, and they seemed to work just fine after winter. However, it wouldn't hurt to keep those puppies safe and warm when not in use.
@bobkantor4695 Жыл бұрын
Also in your closing summary, you say to avoid running the Truma hot water heater while winterized bc that will boil the antifreeze. I'd thought that the winterization setting on the Nautilus bypassed the Truma water heater and did not fill it with antifreeze. Comment? Thanks!
@thehealthytraveler Жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. The Winterization setting will bypass the Truma Water Heater. However, as a safety pre-caution, I would not turn on the water heater while in winterization mode because 1. it's not needed (there's no more water in the water heater system) and 2. In the event that a small amount of rv antifreeze somehow gets into the truma water heater. Again, these are just pre-cautionary measures, but it's highly unlikely you would need to turn on the water heater in winterization mode, the furnace, yes, but definitely not the water heater. I hope that helps. Thanks again for your comments.
@bobkantor4695 Жыл бұрын
In your closing summary checklist, you forgot to mention that you also run antifreeze into the toilet flush line.
@thehealthytraveler Жыл бұрын
The toilet flush line would be part of the shower/bath checklist, but yes, you are correct, you will want to make sure you flush the toilet in order to pump rv antifreeze through the toilet flush line.
