The anecdotal example of the San Deigo home owner facing high tax on the property is a California issue. Many states have homestead or senior protection that caps their property tax at 3%. So, either your lady, in the example, has a second home or she is a new owner, or Cali needs new leadership to shore up their policies. If she really purchased at $250k, it would only increase by 3%/yr, provided she has homestead (a state by state program). So, not sure how her taxes on that property are based on a $1.2m valuation...

We actually would benefit from less government involvement in industry. But, good to know what others are thinking. We don't want to be more like China.

Many individuals fail to mention that once your AGI exceeds $250,000 you are subject to the NIIT, which adds an additional tax of 3.8% on capital gains or income over $250K. I want to see this balloon pop what happens if other countries devalue there currency or start moving away from the dollar? I like the optimism but I doubt things are going to go the way the trump guys want it to go. all of it might be good short term but what are the long term consequences from this? All this feels like 1920s, anit immigrant, massive deregulation, tax cuts and massive wealth transfer from middle class to the rich and the Idolization of the rich and powerful through new media.
