You are comparing apples and oranges. The Grayl purifies almost everything, including many heavy metals. You don't have to add purification drops/tablets with Greyl so you can drink it right after filtering. And because it pulls out so much stuff, the water tastes a LOT better. People who travel to developing countries take Greyls for this reason. I use both, the Sawyer when I am going ultra light. I also keep a Sawyer in my day back for emergencies.

I watched this video quite awhile ago and love the frog. I do have some constructive comments, if you don't mind. Your hands kept going out of frame and focus and it was hard to follow at times. Also your glove got in the way a lot as well. I can say that I am just now starting to carve the frog and am loving how it looks, just difficult at times. Thank you for the design.

Nice. Is that a Z-Packs tent? I joke a lot about the "bushcraft" moniker, but Florida (in my humble opinion) definitely qualifies as "bush". I'd imagine the tools & techniques that the Aussies use would fly in Florida. I lived out there for a couple of years. It's single track heaven. Always an adventure. You riding a Marlin? I used to think the stem bags were dumb until I rode some single track with my bottles in their cages on my gravel bike and they kept falling out because I wasn't using a hydration pack. Now I got two stem bags up front. 😂

Is that a tarp tent? Not sure if my old man beach cruiser could make it out there lol. Looks so much easier than humping a bunch a gear out there on your back.

The tent is a zpacks. Your beach cruiser would be fine on the gravel trails. The unmarked overgrown trails we explored was definitely challenging on my mountain bike.

Question for you, what are your thoughts on Tannins for both products here in Florida? Grayl precautions show do not use GeoPress in water with high tannins.
@tampajimmie118 ай бұрын
I would probably not use it in that situation. I'm mostly planning on using it on out of state fly fishing trips and here in Florida at a spring fed lake I like to fish. For almost all other camping scenarios the sawyer squeeze is just a better option anyway.

the grayle is a purifier and the sawyer is a filter...no comparison
@davef5916 Жыл бұрын
I have both and if Im not moving more than 12km or something, I take the grayl, especially if I'm filtering for me plus one or more people. The grayl wins on speed and ease, as well as removing chemicals if you're close to civilisation and don't know about the water source. Just sucks that it's so bulky and heavy.

Good Review Jimmie! Ive also been a Sawyer guy for the longest! I did recently get the Grayl and ive used it twice. it is handy in a day hiking scenario, or in the kayak while paddling(though its tough to press in the kayak) i still prefer my Sawyer and a gravity bag in camp! Just my preference i guess!
@jamesbell5354 Жыл бұрын
The Grayl removes waterborne pathogens and filters many chemicals (including PFAS and VOCs), pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, flavors and odors. The Sawyer Squeeze doesn't. That's a plus for Grayl. You didn't mention this .
@Aethelhadas Жыл бұрын
The only reason ive been considering Grayl. Have thought about pairing the Sawyer with a UV pen but not sure how effective it would be, apparently chemicals and heavy metals still wont be purified away. Hope sawyer makes a purifier version someday soon. Aquamira Frontier Max purifies water to the same quality Grayl does, so that's worth looking into, but it's sold out at the moment.
