@@DODO-vy6sf I suppose what you do with your cabin is your business but it wouldn’t be an official option via the ferry company. This would be something you’d have to arrange personally with someone, and then your compromising the luxury of a private cabin by having a stranger in there, your then back in the business of being in a shared dorm style accommodation. Hope this helps 👍

Nice! Happy holidays, cheers! I keep seeing people switch to lithium batteries which seem much more costly, and I personally have never had any trouble with regular batteries and use trickle chargers. Am I just lucky?
@ToniReviews
@ToniReviews 8 күн бұрын
@@MotoCurmudgeon yes lithium are lighter and can be drained to much higher percentages. Butto be honest a regular lead acid is fine as you say. My battery was7 years old and had been out in all weathers, so it had done a fair enough job. I’d maybe switch to lithium for my campervan leisure batteries to enable more drainage and weight saving, but not really necessary or fussy when it comes to the bike etc, these are absolutely fine.👍

Great video series. Really informative, and pleasant to watch (so much better than any of the youths detailing their Jasmin easyrider trip). Have you made your day-to-day itinerary available online somewhere? I'd love to have a look to see if I can fit some of the North West into my own itinerary.

@@Oelala879 hi. Many thanks is for the kind words of support. I haven’t written my itinerary down but it you look at the videos on the playlist I tell you where I am in each episode and the journey I did. In terms of the “youths”!you will find Ha Giang is absolutely teaming with easy riders and blasting out music at every scenic coffee shop you find. Definitely see a couple of bits in ha Giang it’s stunning but definitely overshadowed by the scooters everywhere. We made out way from Hanoi north and east stoping at ba bae lake then up towards the Ban Gioc waterfall on the north east and the Chinese border. We did about 150- 200km per day along the border and the very north, until we dropped down to make our way towards the cave in son la, and the dinosaur backbone in ta Xau. With one day to get back to Hanoi which was a killer, but wanted to squeeze as much as we could out of the trip

Great review. Like a couple of others have said here. Heat is prob the biggest reason to chuck it, especially in a hot country like Australia. Cats need to be hot to work and here it’s like sitting on volcano! Meerkat here in Australia make pretty good ones and far cheaper for a better product by the looks. The speed twin 900 2022 Euro5 onwards have link pipes to mufflers welded so it requires a cut and weld or finding an updated x Pipe design to suit.

I’m thinking of buying the same motorcycle as you have. They’ve changed it slightly for 2025. It’s not quite as retro, but I believe the engine is the same. What is your impression?
@ToniReviews
@ToniReviews 2 ай бұрын
@@robiker416B they’re a very simple and easy motorbike when it comes to handling. So light and nimble but with some enjoyable low end grunt, that’s what I love most. Personally I’m not a fan of the more modern twists, I actually really like the more retro styling. Saying that I took a lot of the silver bits and things like lights, levers, shocks, exhaust etc and I’ve modified all those bits myself. They’re great bikes for modifying as there’s loads of bits available out there. Not sure if you can get an ex pipe for the later models? I’ve not looked into that, but to be fair the sound was the only noticeable difference, and you can do that with a nice set of pipes. I’d say go for a test ride and see what you think. At one point I was considering the speed twin, but the overly modern styling put me off . Let me know what you think after the test ride I’d be interested to hear 👍

Wow Toni, as a born pom now a kiwi I really appreciate your review, I was just about to purchase one at $288NZD after watching 3 positive reviews untill i saw yours. I have had Zumo's for the last 4 years and can 100% agree sat navs have their issues which build up to " i can't be bothered spending valuable riding time to make this work " I already have the Quadlock vibration dampening charging system on my Vstrom which works perfectly. I have just purchased Cygic Premium and am keen to try out. Thanks Toni, you saved me some bucks.

Wow a Pom / No. love to hear how far these videos reach. Yes I sold the sat nav as soon as I got back to the uk. Really did not feel it was worth the money or the effort. There are so many good apps out there that far outweigh the clunky old sat nav’s. I used sygic on a small European trip and it was outstanding, so the pro version I reckon will be amazing. I think phones and apps do an amazing job and the variety out there is just awesome. I recently used an app called REVER, to take the odd twisty route home when riding, and whilst it definitely has some drawbacks, some of the roads it chose, took me on some amazing little routes I’d never before explored. Good luck with the app I think the pro version will be more than capable and far outweigh a Tom Tom. Let me know how you get on!

Update: I purchased the premium Sygic the day I watched your review and now a month later I am very happy with the app. Used multiple times now both in a car and on my bike. Look forward to the future rides with clear concise instructions. Thanks again Toni. Shiny side up, go well. Lance.

You aren’t allowed to stay in the van. All the levels with vehicles on are locked so you can’t access vehicles whilst sailing. This is to prevent injury whilst at sea as the sea can’t get very rough and cars can move or worse. This is just one of the reasons you can’t stay in your campervan

Not having a designated cabin isn’t really all that bad, and if travelling alone and on a budget it’s definitely a solution for anyone looking to save. I always assumed that if your van was on the outside deck that you could stay in your van if you wanted to. You certainly can on some ferries but different operators may have different rules. I’ve been on this boat and was very happy to have a cabin, the value on a 31 hour crossing is beyond compare to a short crossing. If the price is a big issue, then the seats are not bad, but a cabin is always going to be better,

My 550 turned on and off whenever it felt like it (only for 4-5 seconds but at a junction or roundabout you don't need it). Told me to be left before a roundabout then told me to take the last exit (turn right). Didn't adjust quickly after an instructed maneuver into the next (keeping direction arrow beyond the move, adjusting too late leaving me stranded in the wrong lane). A couple of times it took me off a motorway and back on it. Wasn't clear about what exit on complicated roundabout systems (no close-up window). Absolutely last second telling me to turn. The arrow disappeared below the screen view a few times. The image turned sideways randomly for a few minutes. Nightmare satnav that cost me a fortune to mount it without their ugly as sin mounts.
