I have a mixed breed dog that can run at least 45 mph. Easily beating the world record. The problem is that he only runs about 35 unless he sees a deer, then he's got super turbo deer gear! Absolutely awesome to witness. I was pacing him with my car doing 34 to 35 and we both spot a deer ahead at the same time and back at him and he hit high gear and the dirt and grass was flying like a cartoon I can say with 100 percent confidence he hit a minimum of 45 mph. I don't want him chasing deer so it was everything I could do to stop him. BTW he can catch them in seconds if he is even remotely close at the time of sighting. What I'm getting at is. Do you think that these race dogs have deer gear? If my dog can do 45 these dogs could probably do 60 mph!

Everyone quotes the grey hounds top speed as 45 mph. These dogs are averaging around 37 mph. Was there maybe one dog, once, ever, that ran 45 mph? And now people say that all greyhounds can run that fast.

How come every youtube video about greyhounds quotes their supposed top speed, but none of them ever give the stats of the race? Those being distance and time.

Dogs shoot out of the gate like a bullet. Ran like they were chasing a cat. I've seen Greyhound Races overseas and they use a mechanical rabbet around the rail of track. I haven't seen Hurdle Racing but it does make it more challenging and fun to watch.

I had a former racing dog from Italy. My son was stationed in Italy ad he brought her home to the Navajo Nation and left her with me. I love this dog. Her name was Gypsy.

Just wanted people to know that watch this…. These dogs are treated like shit. My uncle adopted a dog that was a racer…. She was one of the best racers in Florida when she was in her prime and she ended up with paws that would dislocate way too easily. She never knew how to play correctly because she never played. She was kept in a kennel 24/7 when she wasn’t training or racing. These dogs are very abused and it’s why dog racing is illegal now in Florida. It’s a disgusting sport
