Is the LA&L the railroad that scraped those C424s that were Ex EL and PRR/PC. Physically they looked, as far as frames and carbodies, looked pretty good. They should have talked to the folks at the Delaware-Lackawanna. They may have been interested in them.
@GriffinBrooks17Ай бұрын
@@RichardKroboth To my knowledge the LA&L have only ever scrapped 4 locomotives. 3 C424’s ex GBW, and 1 RS36 ex NW. it’s possible you are talking about the 3 ex GBW C424’s. All 3 stored badly and had some damage in the 90’s. The LA&L put a lot of money into the 3 to get them too Lakeville. All 3 were intended to be part sources since day 1. The LA&L later tried to revive one of them but failed after it needed excessive repairs so it was scrapped last year.

Contrary to popular belief these GP15's are replacements for the AC6000's. I believe the WNYP just sold 2 more to Wabtec in Erie PA. The Alco's will likely take over the job's the 6000's would have and the GP15's will take over the Alcos previous job's. Employees have said that the Alco's wont be going anywhere any time soon.

Gotta love those old ALCO's and MLW/ALCO clones! But I wonder how much longer you'll see them running on these shortlines. I would have to imagine parts for them will start getting awfully scarce. I think the old ALCO 251 engines are still being manufactured under license, but the original Westinghouse traction motors probably aren't easy to replace parts on...
@GriffinBrooks172 ай бұрын
A majority of parts can and are made but yes once they go down for a while but if you take care of them right they'll run for a long time! In the case of the Ontario Midland they'll be getting a fresh ECO GP40 within the next year or so and currently their shops can only hold 2 locomotives so someone's getting kicked out. 416 & 417 are both still great runner's but 416 sure smokes a lot more!
