Considering how many illiterate Japanese there are, the JLPT being so heavily spelling and kanji feels like it tells me nothing about my japanese ability.
It's pretty funny that sensei looks so cool in the thumbnail, only to be scared by this bug we cannot see hahaha

1:30:20 Can someone explain why はじめようとすると思います is not a valid answer? "I think I will try to start [diet tomorrow]" it makes sense to me in english at least.
@xDarkRockst4rx3 күн бұрын
I think it is a valid answer but you wanna emphasize the intention here so はじめようと思います seems to be the better choice. ( feel free to correct me if anyone knows better i am also learning for my N4, i am not good at japanese )

@@xDarkRockst4rx I think you are right. "はじめようと思います" means that a person currently has the intention to start something, while "はじめようとすると思います" suggests that they think they will develop the intention to start in the future. Since we have a specific time for the plan to start the diet, "あしたから" (from tomorrow), "はじめようと思います" sounds more natural.

ようとする is a bit different from “try to”although that is a translation you may see. I feel it’s more like “I am/was about to do…” It has a pretty strong feeling of intention so it feels redundant with と思います。
