The flap only closes when you let off the gas. The problem is that the flap slows down rapid gas changes. You also have to close the hole from the vacuum valve on the intake port, which causes turbulences. There is also a flapper in the exhaust that closes at 50kmh

Thanks for the vid! I just installed the IMS 3 gallon on my '08 wr250r and the upper triple clamp is hitting the tank. It's very gentle on the left, but on the right, it actually has to deflect the plastic of the tank to turn the handlebar all the way. I worry this could break and puncture the tank after long-term use. I've tried readjusting the mounting plates to make it sit as far down and backwards as possible, but that didn't help. Does that happen in yours too?

Which of the two would shield me from the inside leg heat of the motor, tank, and exhaust better? I'm looking for very lightweight long-distance pants that I won't sweat too much in but offer protection from the heat on the inside of my upper and lower legs.

I did the Dakar and feel it would achieve the protection you are looking for while keeping cool. I ordered on Amazon prime so I could return if I didn’t feel they would do the job or needed a different size. Hope this helps!

Another thing I would add is the Mojave would be better for riding in the heat like the dunes for example and still offer decent protection. They have exposed netting for keeping cool but I didn’t like that I couldn’t close those areas up whereas the Dakar you can open vents and close them.

Thank you for an excellent demonstration and how to do this job. I watched several how to videos before I started, but yours was the best that I found. I chose to go with the Yoshimura slip on Exhaust and the Dyno Jet Power Commander 6 fuel controller. Your demonstration showed me that I could do this modification. Keep up the good work. Thanks

All you need to do is get son 35 mm film negative and some wf40. Spray on the wd40 then run the film around the fork tube and up into the seal . As you reverse the motion the film will pull out any dirt ect.. that is causing the leak. Works really well.no more leak. For a super fork replace the fork oil with Mobil 1 automatic transmission fluid. .

In my design the front leafs are connected to a "tie rod" like tube going down to the lower a-arm. The ability to change the length of the tube via heims and also where it connects on the A-arm I think would allow for a ton of adjustability and fine tuning. You can adjust ride height with affecting spring rate. Try that with a coilover...not.
