Sigh...I love the cure and Simon but people are stupid and when they see a song title like this of course the first reaction is being offended , imagine if a song came out called killing a brit , but it's based off a book called "my shoe" , what do you think is gonna happen? I'm not condoning violence but a different title could've helped..too late now tho😒

Its funny how they had to change the singing to "killing another" because ppl dont have any general knowledge about anything, especially about literature..

Great interview, Simon is very intelligent, he's describing the current situation with all the "woke" activists ruining things for other people. One of my favorite songs and I hope to read the book one day soon.

On the other hand, if a band put out a song like "Killing a Jew" or "Killing a Black Man", how well do you think that would go down?
@shapolfab9 ай бұрын
This was filmed at least 15 years ago if not more. So Nothing to do w the current situation with all the so-called “woke”activists whatever that means!

I LOVE this song. And I feel no hate, nor do I feel like killing anyone. 🖤🖤🖤💋💋💋
@alukuhito3 жыл бұрын
I'm going to guess that you're not an Arab though.
@taffycat933 жыл бұрын
@@alukuhito are you suggesting that Arabs feel hate or feel like killing someone? What's your point?
@alukuhito3 жыл бұрын
@@taffycat93 Well, I'm just a regular western person who likes the Cure, so that song doesn't bother me. However, I'm just thinking, if I was an Arab, that could be some serious shit. I'm not a Jew, but if I was a Jew and there was a song, regardless of being based on a book or not (and who even knows what the book is actually about?), and that song was called "Killing a Jew" and it was by a band as huge as The Cure, that they play often in concert, and have been doing so for 40 years or so, I might just have an issue with that. I'm just saying that I can see another point of view. Maybe we need a debate. We could get Robert Smith justifying to upset Arabs why he sings a song called "Killing an Arab", and we can see if both sides have valid points or not.
@taffycat933 жыл бұрын
@@alukuhito You're the reason why Robert changed the sing to Killing Another. And you're point has been made without you needing a whole diatribe on the subject.
@alukuhito3 жыл бұрын
@@taffycat93 So, I'm the reason? Interesting. I didn't even know he changed it. And he did so for me. Wow. That was nice of him. You were asking for a comment, so I gave you one. Off to bed now.
