Looks very interesting! But I don't suppose this can be DIY'd in some form? Probably some complex and technical computations involved and not just ramming metal rods into the ground in a similar fashion? I live in a country that I think doesn't have any idea this could even be done.

In other videos they discuss what types of soil the ground frame can be used in. Obviously it doesn't work in very rocky soil, especially large rocks, or on solid rock, like sandstone. I would assume building a typical perimeter foundation or foot wall, would need special equipment to drill into the sandstone or granite to create any type of foundation. Their instructions say at least 2/3rds of the pipe has to be inserted into the ground, otherwise you need to dig out a hole, clear the rocks and put tamped soil back in. As for using it for a garage floor, I would think it depends on the spacing of the initial ground frames in both directions along with the 4x6 pressure treated sill plate. I've seen parking spaces cantilevered out over a steep mountain side (anyone driving along Chuckanut Drive along the Puget Sound in WA knows what I'm talking about) so I assume a properly engineered garage floor platform would work. If you want a cement garage floor, then have one poured. I don't think they suggest using this product as the base of a garage floor (ground frames, 4x6 sill plates, sufficient thick plywood, cement board, then finish it with prestressed concrete to keep it from cracking. Of course you could try the same structure and replace the concrete with driveway pavers. I suggest everyone with questions go to their website and read and watch everything they have. I think it's a fantastic foundation product for almost every soil type. see groundframes.com/how-it-works/ groundframes.com/installation-beam/ disclaimer: I'm not an employee of Ground Frame, I just saw my first video of their product and it sounds amazing. It's been approved in Gig Harbor, WA, and I'm seen videos of other installations in other areas of Washington state, a state that requires properly engineered construction practices.

And is it strong enough to support a garage floor?

What is the cost? I'm a builder in Renton Washington just wondering if it was cost-effective.

I really like the idea. What about burrowing rodents? I don't see a "rat slab", which some of my coworkers have had to install to prevent burrowing rodents from getting under and then inside their house.
