Fantastic playing. Anyone on the fence regarding LRP humbuckers, go for it. A total transformation of my 2012 R9. The stock custombuckers will spend the rest of eternity in the Ron Ellis box.

That's my birth year! Did the large headstock come out in Dec 65? Some sites online say 1966.

The general consensus is that Dec 1965 production switched over to the new large headstock design for the Stratocaster. This particular guitar follows that with a Dec 65 stamped neck. You will still see the odd small headstock Stratocaster pop up in 1966 but not many.
