Lights, locks, and cameras do not always deter people. You should always be prepared. It's your job to prevent accidents in your own home too. My 4 cousins and I grew up around guns that were on full display at ground level in my grandfather's house. We were always taught to respect them and never touch them because they were grandpa's. Could the guns have been locked in a case? Absolutely, but even then, there would be rules about touching the cabinet. We followed those rules. If someone wants to get in your house badly enough, they aren't even considering rules.

Who doesn't have locks and lights in their house ? To suggest gun owners rely solely on the gun for protection is nonsensical. The gun is last resort but effective. That's why its important, when all else fails, you have a last resort, effective means of defense.

are child accidents rising? I thought this almost a non-issue compared to suicide
@WalkTheTalkAmericaАй бұрын
Some anti gun organizations are citing 2023 as the highest number yet. Accidents are a top cause of death among youth. While the numbers don't compare to the self harm statistics, every negative outcome will be used against the firearm community.

Well, self distancing from firearms doesn't really work that well considering that suicidal ideas sometimes come in impulses instead of long time thoughts about it. Self distancing also isn't really a good way of handling a nation wide problem, because there are many people that are very irresponsible/over estimate their own mental health. And the argument that we should be more concerned about people's mental health instead of their firearms excess is kind of right, but happiness for everyone, for free, is a concept many countries have tried and only one has successfully achieved. This one country is also rich, has free education, free healthcare, a left government, a very low racism rate, a very low crime rate, very few extremists and wasn't involved in a war for a long time. And even if you can achieve this state, there can always be a stroke of fate, where your child or wife dies, causing suicidal behaviors.
