Dark Side of the Moon = possibly the most over-produced rock n roll album ever made for it's time. But a great album in spite of the pretense of it's creation.

I recently listened, re-listened, or re-discovered "Songs in the Key Of Life" by Stevie Wonder. I'd like to hear what you have to say about it, especially if you've never heard it. There's also a documentary about the making of the album out there somewhere worth watching (if you're a fan, that is...)

I LOVE that album! Let me know what the documentary is called if you can find it :)

The idea is really good but I feel it needs to be implemented by one of the existing streaming services. Spotify could have a subscribe to artist feature, that unlocks additional music for a small cost. This would be a win for everyone.
@TheWhiteLocust2 ай бұрын
(Although wouldn’t be surprised if Spotify tried to take 90% of the sale) 😂

Yeah, I think the trust is broken with streaming tbh. But yeah something like that would be cool and a good way to support smaller artists.

@user-mm3sd3uh6y2 ай бұрын
obviously because it's a VERY GOOD song, good enough to make it to ageless classics, was a banger in 2001, still banger in 2024. And no, it doesnt sound like other chart songs from past few years, nowadays music is bllsht, MOTD has amazing 90s feeling in it, that's why it's an exclusion, but from 2000 and so on music pretty much died, the only way to rescue it is to get back to the roots and start writing like in 90s, it was the golden era @@OllieSach

"the identity of Sault's members remains a mystery to this day" - I mean, not really. Each of the albums all have 'produced by InFlo' on the back of them, so there's your first one, Dean Josiah Cover. Plus the fact it's quite clearly his partner, Cleo Sol singing on the majority of tracks and apart from people like Kid Sister, Michael Kiwanuka, and Lil Simz guesting on the tracks (which InFlo produces for on a regular basis), it doesn't take Colombo to put this mystery together...
@OllieSach4 ай бұрын
What I’m trying to say is that the experience of listening to a SAULT album is that you don’t know 100% who to expect. Would it surprise you if Cleo didn’t appear on any of the songs on one album? Given how attached she is to the project then yes, but if it contributed to the artistic direction of the music then not at all. So SAULT isn’t a definite collection of 5 members, it is the name given to the art of anyone who appears in the music. Also you do have to go out of your way to find who is on the album 🤣 obviously I knew about Cleo Sol but I had to find out about InFlo

hard disagree with STH at #1. there's some great production there, but Danny's rapping sounds pretty uninspired at points throughout the record. and I low key really don't like JPEGMAFIA....I find his whole bitter teenage edgelord persona that he has going on a lot of the time to be really obnoxious.

@mrhoffame5 ай бұрын
I think the best advice I could give a new vinyl collectors (older ones as well) is .....really try to make sure you don't find yourself trying to "Keep up with Jones". In other words it's so easy to get excited about collecting vinyl so you start watching tons of videos of youtube or facebook and next thing you know you somehow are now out scraping your pennies together and buying things because "others" have told you it's what you "Must Have". That is a great way to zap your wallet and positive vibe with vinyl really quick. Just always try to focus on making your collection represent YOU and YOUR FEELINGS! Nobody else!
