You might want to add to this video that if you touch the metal chassis of the amp with one hand and one of those capacitors near the tubes with the other hand you are as good as dead when about over 400 volts of electricity goes through your body and stops your heart. Either drain the capacitors first or make sure you don't touch the capacitors when you change the tubes.

Everyone talks about how good the hall reverb is but I still prefer the spring setting I think. I don’t know why but it’s just more pleasing to my ears

I've got 2 of these one at home, one at the rehearsal room I co-own. Valve change is well worth while but my main advice with the Ac4tv is that it really needs to run hot. Warm it up for at least 10 minutes before playing, longer if possible and the sound an dynamics improve beyond belief. The message even with upgraded tubes is run this amp hot to get the best sound and playing experience.

I just got mine in the post today. Really digging it. Took me a while to wrap my head around the bias knob though, that's for sure.

But you do want a tuner right ? I do at least. If the amp does not have a tremolo, I've got to have it. Otherwise, overdrives, distortions, boosters etc. don't work for me. Wish I could manage to get an acceptable sound out of them, just in case. Like when you're asked to turn it down even further, or are confronted with a multiple channel amp that can do anything except deliver a good sound, etc.Makes you less dependent.

NYC by a mile, all that bass sounds awful in the mix and it will have to be EQ'd out to make room for the bass guitar anyway.

Excellent vid. I have a BSF pedal for when I am playing my SB-1000 - you are 100% right, the 11-5-12-2 setting sounds awesome on my Epi Les Paul 50's. Saved a few quid, as the amp OD is not brilliant. Thanks for sharing, mate.

I have this amp, 10 years. It looks and play like day 1, brand new basically. I like blues so it has only blues preset that I put on it, most of them made from intheblues (check his channel on ytube). Mine sounds completely different than what you have here. You can still download the software and install on windows 11, with a little googling around, after replacing 1 file. Btw I never liked the built in presets, but after the setup, installing the presets. they stay in the memory of the amp forever. So my amp is a blueish amp, when you flip the presets it will sound like blues jr., etc.. What Fender did with Fuse and the community that was built around this amps was pretty lame, and the kids nowadays don’t know what this little amp is capable of.

The gritty frets are caused by humidity, this happens to a lot of guitars made in Asia, the ones it doesn't happen to are the guitars that have plenty of silica gel packs installed on the fretboard. My Eastman SB59 came with lots of silica gel packs and the frets were not gritty.

Great review...I just happen to find one and I should be picking it up today. I have heard the saddles aren't great for setting up intonation...while you had this guitar (i assume you gave it away) did you find that an issue?

Agree, more gear = more to worry & more to go wrong on live gigs. Audience doesn't know the difference . They just want to hear a good band with good music. We play straight into a Yamaha Stagepas600BT and that's it. The mixer on this unit has a nice reverb that we use and that's about it. Easy set up / tear down and having more fun playing & getting repeat gigs. Less is more . IMO🎸🎸🎸

Just bought one of these for £110 for practice and to mess around with. I've no desire to swap the tubes or speaker, but the tutorial is handy should I ever need to do it anyway. I have a couple of pedals I'll try using with it, see how it sounds. I'm a crap player though, and my ears aren't great, so I'll probably think it sounds awesome either way. 😁

That nano big muff is really an excellent pedal. You could say the same for the bass big muff (not nano), used to compare them on guitar, they are also the same, the nano has a little bit more hights (good for guitar !) and the "normal" one has a switch to had more bass (not really usable on guitar). So I think they are both really good on guitar, with a (little) preference for the nano.

I'm going to also tell the drummer to use less Tom's and cymbals. He only really needs a snare, hi hat and bass drum. Bass players shouldn't use a Pic or anything more than 1 15" speaker and singers don't really need a mic if they learn to project. Ya know what ? Let's just bring a juke box.

Can tracks be recorded at different lengths for asynchronous looping... or do all tracks have to conform to being the same length?

They both sound great. I’m a big muff and super fuzz fan in general. But the current nyc pedal is very underrated. It’s arguably one of the best muff circuts of all time. They never made a bad one honestly but it has a lot more gain than say a rams head and a lot of low end when compared to an op amp or triangle. It’s really an amalgamation of all the muffs. And like the russian when the vol is cranked you get the low end but perhaps not as much. Tbh the best of the russians was either the early ones or the black ones. The green ones are amazing too but i thought the nyc was a better sounding pedal at time and the russian at others. The decision is rly down to how its setup. With the vol sustain and tone up id say tbe russian. But in every other application the nyc.

Whether a pedalboard is a nano, which I dig or a nano plus that holds up to 6 full size pedals, snark tuners still exist. A Tuner in a pedal takes up pedalboard space for an effect pedal. Space that could be used for a compressor pedal or an overdrive or delay pedal or modulation effect
