I cant read the other comments 😕I can't speak in Khemetic initiation but as an orisha and palo initiate, it's tough cuz unlike most religions where you learn all you can and then decide whether you want to be baptisted, or commit, make vows, with atrs you CANT learn the deep stuff until AFTER you commit so it's a catch 22. It takes a lot of dicernment cuz either way your blindfolded and have to "trust the process" and hope you know who your dealing with well enough so that you don't get screwed over. I personally got initiated cuz Obatala claimed me a long time ago and I felt a calling to do it. But I advice everyone, it's a not the "cool" club, get initiation for your health, stability, and well being or emergencies of course, but even then make sure your sure cuz after that, it's with you for life. Ache!!!!

I agree that the best situation is knowing the tradition before initiating into it. Many experience a Bait and Switch when invited to initiate. During and after this type of initiation you learn that you were not presented with the truth, or find that you've initiated into something you don't even agree with. This is ruining the ATR reclamation and resurrection of faith practice. Who do we trust?
