Magic writing by Shorter. Guess Zawinul just looked at the score and smiled.

The composition, the arrangement, the performance, the otherworldly interaction between the players, all set the benchmark for all the rest to follow in their wake: 40 years later and still counting. RIP JacoWanJo

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the three most "popular" pieces on this album (Birdland, Teen Town, and A Remark You Made) are the least favorite? Palladium and Havona especially are pure genius in my opinion.

昔、LP時代。もちろん、バードランドのためにこのアルバムを買ったのだけれど、一番耳に残ったのはこの曲だ。 A long time ago, in the LP era. Of course, I bought this album for Birdland, but this is the tune that stuck in my ears the most.

@@claytonpaulette2808 Thanks for that, Clayton! My first high school job was in the snack bar of a weekend flea market/swap meet, held in a drive-in theater parking lot in Long Beach, CA. How I got 5 coworker -- count 'em FIVE - white kids over to my stereo-fitted backyard clubhouse in Compton to sit still and listen to "American Tango" ... I will never remember 🤣
