I well remember the costume! Layla let me where it on a few occasions. I also remember seeing you, Dee at Layla’s class at Imperial Fez. I was so impressed I told you to come audition at Casbah, where I had just started dancing. The rest, as they say, is history!

I am so delighted to see this beauty again - unforgettable! I called it the Wedding Cake because it had so many layers and pieces, too, as Dee is showing you, including pink sequin bikini, anklets, head piece, necklace, sleeves, cape which was awesome for a big entrance to a full routine. It's how fabulous show stopper costumes were at that time. I bought this costume from a NY dancer named Joanne Kleidon(sp?) who worked on cruises around Mediterranean, had access to Egyptian costumes and wore and sold several. This was the most elegant at the time!!!

Oh this is just great. You did that bra much like I did the peacock bra. Very good work, yours and the original. This kind of reminds me of the peacock costume.

Aloha Aziza Nawal ! I made the necklace to go with the peacock costume. I also put the original bra cup, which was way too small for me (even then) unto a larger cup. Then I added bead work to match the original, it’s a continuation of the pattern. Examine the top of the cups and you may be able to tell. I guess I did a good job of blending it. Also, the original belt was one continuous piece. Fastened on one side only. That made no sense as the front and back were so sculpted they need to fit precisely in place. So tightening it on one side only would make it fit off Center. I don’t remember if it was me or you who cut the belt into 2 pieces. Originally the belt was too big on me, and the cups too small. LOL. 😂. You’ve done a fantastic job of remaking that. Thanks for showing it off. It truly is a work of art. I was delighted that you bought it from me.
