a good 383 will get 18 miles gal if tuned good that’s really good considering a lot of new trucks only get 14 mpg if there lucky
@hemivince199320 күн бұрын
whats also pretty impressive, it looks like its still got all the power and runs clean - that ride's been taken care of alright

Thanks Vince, in fact the car has a good tuning! The 383 is cammed, and the carb is a 800 cfm Edelbrock. A very large carb, but it runs so good…

They still do factory low 13 second 1/4-mile cars!!! high 4 second 0-60 stock! Back in 1988 as a teen I had a 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury a large 4200 lb Fullsize car and it beat 5.0 Mustangs and my now brother in laws new 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 5 speed/off road exhaust and lots of Ford performance bolt on parts! I got him by a length all the time! So that's a High13 second 1/4-mile car! We clocked 4.80 0-60 with a bone stock 383 Super Commando engine it was the 383 Magnum in Dodge lingo... A buddy's uncle had a stock 68 Newport 383 2 barrel and he ran low 15's in the 1/4 mile with a lower compression TWO barrel 383 that was stock also! Remember they had no traction that car spun even from a 20 mph roll...the 2 barrel 383 hooked and went to a low 15 time, it had a 2.94 axle ratio and single exhaust 4 door and well over 120,000 miles! My 383 was a 3.23 gear, dual exhaust obviously and was a 1 owner before me and pristine, 110,000 original miles! I should have kept it, but still own my 68 Charger RT 440 thats about 3-5 tenths quicker in the 1/4 than a 383 hp car when bone stock..

why can't cars nowadays be made with so much character
@LoveMopar25 күн бұрын
@knivessurvives honestly I don’t know why! Perhaps there was another days… now the important thing is the wider touch screen, the connectivity but…. Who cares about engine or horsepower? Who cares about character of the shapes?

Wow!! An old american car in Italia!! That must be a very rare sight, because I heard that most Italians don't drive those as they are very unpractical for italian roads. I was actually in Brescia on a business trip this year and it got me immediately thinking that I should take my old '72 Dodge Demon 😈 340 and drive from the Czech 🇨🇿 Republic to Italia and cruise there around the two lakes Lago d'Iseo and Lago di Garda and then further south till I reach Sicilia. That would be one expensive roadtrip, but I would have memories for a lifetime and a lot of beautiful photos too. Living in Italia while owning old american cruisers and muscle cars must be a dream...the scenery around to make the atmosphere ❤🇮🇹 is top!! I can't even describe what old american cars mean to me. Before I even open the garage door I get weak in the knees, I get goosebumps and my pulse goes faster... The long hood with scoops on it, the red paint with contrasting black stripes, the white letter tires, the double exhaust with chromed tips, the soft seat and vintage aroma inside the car, the heavy clutch and of course the amazing sounding small block engine that pushes you into the seat when you floor it!! I even got a ZZ Top keychain hanging on my Demon car keys...I love their videoclips and music to this day. When I was a little boy back then when my country was called Czechoslovakia and we were still ruled by socialism regime...I could only dream, but now I DRIVE my dream 🤘😎 Greeting to Italia 👋 Cruising forever...

Is Your Demon a 4-speed manual?
@cheekydemon61313 ай бұрын
@@LoveMopar It's a 3-speed with a dog-leg shift pattern. I enjoy it a lot, because old Ferraris also used to have the dog-leg shift pattern and I always thought that it's pretty smart when reading about it in books. I know that 4-speed are the most popular, but a 3-speed is a lot of fun to me because it's unusual compared to the classic "H" pattern. Of course that I like any pattern, because my country has had socialism for 40 years so seeing any old american classic makes my heart jump. No matter if it's a mopar, GM, Ford or anything else. Those muscle and pony cars are over 50 years old now and people don't race with them on a dragstrip so it doesn't matter if it's a "slow" automatic or a fast 4-speed and what rear gear is in it. It's all about the feeling when sitting in it and just enjoying the crusing. It's like you travel back in time even when you abide the law, haha.

This in fact was THE engine that gave Chrysler it's reputation for having the fastest cars as it was in most of the muscle cars in Dodge and Plymouth. Very little mods and you have a motor that stands up against most anything, except a Hemi or 427.
