What is the difference between a Miko and a priestess? Are there shinto priestesses? 🤔

hmmm,... my family is extremely traditional ... for us there is attending performance of Beethoven 9th Symphony, eating 0-seichi ryori, writing and sending New Year cards. For New Year day the first thing to drink is o-sake.

I started training karate at the age of 14 years old. At 19, I started training for the next 2 years under Enoeda Sensei and Kanazawa Sensei, in Liverpool, UK. I am now in my mid-70's and I still train in my home Dojo, in Australia (now). I have lived in four different countries and have always kept training karate (or teaching). Oss!

Thank you for sharing. I am learning about Shintō today. 🙏 I found some commonality of Shintō with other religion. The washing for prayers reminds me of the Islam practice of washing before prayers. Although there is the physical side, I believe there is also the symbolic aspect of ensuring purity in approaching the sacred. Secondly, the expression of thanks or gratitude before food is also ritually practiced in Christianity and Islam where one gives thanks for their the food that nature or God has provided. 😊 Lastly, I have a question solely out of curiosity or confirmation. My grandmother was my primary spiritual teacher and she was a Taoist and Buddhist in her time on earth. She mentioned to me when I was little that Shintō ritual has a box where it is opened for prayer ritual. I am curious what she meant as I was too little when she told me this so I did not ask more questions. Or perhaps I have misunderstood her. Maybe some clarification or validation will be great. Thank you again 🙏

Thank you for sharing your story. Nice! About the question, I am not sure what she meant. If you like to know more about Shinto, we have online community where I give weekly group Q&A online sessions. You can have a look! www.skool.com/japanesewisdomacademy

The most beautiful concept I have learnt. Many cultures are increasingly admiring bullying. And many media outlets are encouraging hatred. I have already started consciously practising Omoiyari in very small but meaningful ways.
