We currently have a John Deere 50G that we purchased new. At 420 hours it has been a phenomenal machine. No issues what do ever. I also like the CAT products. Looking at a new 306, but the 5 ton series seems to be that sweet spot for easy moving, getting into tight places like woods roads etc. We have a F550 and gooseneck so moving it really isn’t an issue. Just curious if you thought going to a 306 over the 305 was really worth the jump? It’s such a toss up. One thing I realized is you can only get the comfy air seat in the 306 line. They don’t offer the air seat in the 305. Anyone that’s popped stumps with these minis knows they can be a little bumpy on the back and bum. That air seat should take a lot of the bull riding out.
@RyexServices2 жыл бұрын
The John Deere 50 and 60G are both nice machines and I was fortunate enough to run a forestry mower on a JD 60G before I purchased anything. I almost purchased a 305.5, but at the last minute I was able to demo a 306 and to me it was no comparison between the 305.5 and 306. The 306 has much more compatibility than the 305.5 after running both. To me the 306 is just small enough to get into small places and maneuver as well as not cause great transportation issues. I pull mine with a 550 and a triple axle trailer, and can get it into driveways without much issue typically.

I just ordered the RUT 36” brush mower for my 3.5 ton mini ex. What did you adjust for better hydraulic flow?
@RyexServices2 жыл бұрын
The 306 has good flow already. I actually needed to turn down the flow going to the cutter, because the machine puts out more than the bush hogs maximum flow capacity. Which I can adjust on the monitor in the cab of the machine.

I like the stick steer for tramming easy ground but were In the mountains we pull/lift and move ourselves around to much and it obviously kills part of your boom controls so that wouldn't work but it's a good idea I cant wait to get ahold of one I currently have a 305 and a 85g johndeere that's about like a 309 I've been favoring the deere alot sense it's been turned up
@RyexServices3 жыл бұрын
We don't have any mountains in Indiana, steep hills are about it. One thing I didn't explain very well in the video, doesn't lose boom controls while in stick steer mode, it transfers to the roller switch and buttons on the joystick. Definitely not as intuitive to use at first, but I have found it very handy. However, no doubt there are still situations were I need to operate the boom and foot controls because I have more experience and comfort in that mode during those situations, but it's nice to have both options. it is especially nice for easy terrain travel or long distance travel. I've ran the 85G and 60G and there're nice machines, but I still like the CAT stuff just a little better.

@RyexServices3 жыл бұрын
The small bucket is a 12”, but the thumb pins are wider than 12”. So, when digging deeper than 18” or so, it will hit the sides of the trench.

Looks like we are neighbors - somewhat . P.D.Woodland Services, LLC - We are in Owensboro KY and do the same as you do. The difference is our machinery - we have a ASV RT120 with a 84" Fecon mulching head. Its a little higher horsepower machine than the Cat 299. It has less ground pressure than the Cat. We also have a Woodmizer LT50 portable sawmill. I am looking for a stump grinder head and do like your Stumper 280HD. My other choice is a Ryan's Predator - a high speed disc but a lot heavier than the Stumper. We lease a 5 to 8 metric ton mini-excavator as needed - Deere, Bobcat, or Kubota. Whayne has not been good to us so we go elsewhere. I look forward to more videos !
