DS220J lasted 400 odd days when i decided to reset the thing, and due to bad sectors I was then unable to initialise a volume, so had to but a new hard drive, both drives have bad sectors in less than 18 months!! If i had left it, it would still be running.. The drives installed were Seagate that were installed by SCAN computers in the UK, so now i'm trying a Synology 6TB drive, it better last more than 2 years or more... just installed and may get another one, but come on, drives should last more than bloomin more than 400 days!

Don't buy a synology nas they take away functionality after a while. just build your own. so you own it yourself. and yes you can choose to not update the nas but than its not safe... is synology going backrupt or something? why the enshittification... my next Nas/server won't be a synology thats for sure.

Like others, I don't see Drive Admin Console either. After searching... I found the correct package is Synology Drive Server. That's what you all should install.

If you needed to watch this video, you probably won't be qualified to do the part that is left out of this video - the drilling of holes into your home and running cables through roof or wall cavities. Best leave this basic stuff to the tradesperson.

Synology makes some really great products. But at the tame time there are so bad implementations, that really hurt. Right now there is no way to implement "on demand folders" directly in the folder structure in finder. I am not sure, if this is still an Apple topic - I can't believe so. But even, if this is the case. @Synology please: What is that implementation under places in the left bar of the finder. With that folders on demand I need to make the side bar 3 times as wide as normal to find the right folder. First there is the Symbol in front and then always "Synology Drive - " and only after that we can see the right name of the folder. 🙏 🙏 🙏 P L E A S E 🙏 🙏 🙏 SYNOLOGY, let us delete the "Synology Drive - " in front of the name or maybe shorten it to "SD - " if you really need it. It is so space wasting!

Nice, but please fix the Authentication issue in Hyper Backup when trying to backup to another synology nas! It seems like there is some port forwarding issues with ports 5000/5001 and 6281.

Can you please fix the abysmal Hyper Backup Authentication Bonfire! I'm very close to just throw my 5 synology nases out and install servers running TrueNAS instead!

I'm testing this solution with an Advanced-5MP 30 day trial. I'm using the DS1522+ running DSM 7.2.2-72806 paired with 6x Amcrest IP8M-T2599EW 4K cameras. When I paired the cameras with the C2 Backup for Surveillance app on the NAS, 5 out of 6 cameras are forced to the lower sub stream at 704x480 with one odd camera forced to the primary stream at a slightly different resolution than the max at 3072x1728. The primary stream should be 3840x2160. I have unpaired and repaired the cameras. There is no option to select the proper stream. Very odd behavior. Also, I keep getting a "plugin" error stating "The browser does not support this video format. Download the recording for playback." when I attempt to view the uploaded video from the web portal. This happens with Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. This defeats half the purpose of the service. This feels like a beta product.

Question: what if my current synology NAS is faulty, when i get a replacement can my current RAID 1 disk able to run on the new NAS with data intact?

Honestly, I could have set all this up on my Raspberry Pi, but I chose the Synology for its robust package center and the convenience of managing my web server, Docker, PHP, Apache2, and Nginx... all in one place.
