Typical Omaha neighborhood. Chain link fences, nasty streets in disrepair, tacky architecture. Omaha is a white trash mecca.

Didn't go this year. Too expensive. Probably won't go back again. There are much better, cheaper and scarier attractions around the Omaha area. I actually went to Madness Haunted House for the first time this year and had a blast! It is probably my favorite haunt now despite it being in Iowa. Valas will always hold a special place in my soul, but the nostalgia is not worth the ticket price for me anymore.

this is really kinda spooky. I walked this same route 100's of times while growing up in Westgate during the 60's and 70's and now I walk those same streets in my dreams all the time. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. One question. What did you do to get the video to be so smooth? You are walking but there is no jiggling or bouncing of the camera.
@WalkNebraska4 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the walk! Westgate is a great neighborhood. The camera I use is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. It is a handheld camera, but it is basically a gimbaled drone camera on a handle, which gives you smooth results. You can find links to the equipment I used in the description of this video! Thanks for watching!! 🙂

Are you from Omaha? This is just kind of odd seeing this footage. I grew up in the small culdesac next to this pool. I was a lifeguard at this pool the summer I was 15 and the summer I was 16 in the mid 90s. Are you someone I might know, or did you find this neighborhood randomly?

This zoo has become so lame. They used to have a complex full of big cats and another full of bears. It really doesn’t matter what fancy stuff you put in there, if you don’t have a cat and bear complex, your zoo is not interesting
@WalkNebraska6 ай бұрын
It definitely changed when they redesigned the zoo and worked to create more natural "habitats" for the animals. The aesthetic is definitely prettier than before, but the overall vibe is different than when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. I have heard the new orangutan facility is nice, but haven't been to see it yet.

Know this neighborhood. The feeling. Kept watching and didn’t realize Norris was there. I went to Central High and played football there. This was our home field.
@WalkNebraska6 ай бұрын
I recall going and watching a football game there in high school (my family lived in the Westside school district growing up). I had to look up just now and see when Central finally finished its own stadium (completed in 2005). It's a great area (we live near 48th and Grover). I need to get to Morton Meadows (north of this walk) because I know people will probably love the architecture there. Thank you once again for watching and providing your insights! 👍

Thanks, Brad! It appeared they were breaking up the car show, but I'm not 100% sure. ABLE-1 was also flying overhead...
@bradwilliamsphoto6 ай бұрын
@@WalkNebraska You can hear those cars from your house. There is one in particular that every time they let off the gas, it back fires. One night a bunch of us were at the neighbor's house and that car reved its engine for nearly 20 min. "Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom! Rev, Boom!" for 20 straight min before they raced down center, and then down 90th...
@WalkNebraska6 ай бұрын
@@bradwilliamsphoto At the 25:44 mark you can hear the first "boom", then more starting around 26:20. I did wonder what was going on at that point and where that particular car was. It's interesting to hear that this wasn't an isolated occurrence! 🤕
