All the way from Port Harcourt Nigeria, you guys gained a fan months ago. Love listening to you gentlemen whether through KZbin or from my Spotify. I pray your pod gets the growth and notoriety it deserves.

Also I want a Bob Sapp movie where he plays himself in a semi-satirical documentary.
@sherdog6 сағат бұрын
The semi-satirical is the important part. Did you ever see JCVD? It was silly and ridiculous, but strangely affecting and full of pathos at the same time. I would love to see Sappu play himself. Imagine a montage of his late career: a dozen fights in a row where he lays down and curls into a fetal position after the first hard punch he takes. Then you flash back to him in the 90s, whupping Ernesto Hoost, probably the greatest kickboxer of his generation. Twice.

I can't wait to see the Yamma fighting pit make its return in the Mark Kerr movie!

I still think that dumb thing might have worked as intended if the tournament field hadn't been a bunch of aging heavyweights. Can you imagine Demetrious Johnson or Yair Rodriguez fighting in a human Beyblade arena? We might have had multiple Showtime kicks. How about Michel Pereira and Michael Venom Page? But the Sherman Pendergarsts and Pat Smiths of the world just kind of toppled over when they reached the edge of the cage; it made takedowns ten times easier, not harder.

I think Murphy and Edward’s “rises” are pretty different. Like you said Murphy has fought worse completion as he’s progressed. Murphys rise has happened much later in his career than Edwards’ is only a month older than Murphy. Edward’s reached the title in his athletic prime around 30 while if Murphy does he’d be 33-34, older than Leon now. Murphy’s rise feels more like Josh Emmet’s. Here comes a brutal loss via elbow and then he’ll start poking around contention in only four more years!
@sherdog20 сағат бұрын
Murphy-Emmett is a great comparison. Looks pretty dominant, but can't stay busy enough to keep traffic from passing him on the right, and by the time he makes into the title picture (if he ever does) he might be a little too old and beat up to truly capitalize.

[ben] I definitely have a weak spot for Hill. She's from the same part of the country as me (though she was smart enough to move to San Diego, while I ended up in Texas). I dig the punk rock walkout and the cosplay, even though she's kind of abandoned that in recent years.

Apex is fine Dana used to say the Apex is the place unless he gets sold-outs large indoor stadiums on the road. Several UFC fighters will be doing WWE Derrick Lewis is looking to be the first one in UFC not chasing a belt just making a good living doing both. BKFC main owner Triller is being bought, hope this keeps Triller more honest and with Conor as part owner should help, meanwhile the #2 bare knuckle BYB has bought BKB making them the world’s largest bare knuckle boxing promotion in terms of roster, library, and global reach.

If you showed me the Despaigne and Caceres fights, I would have guessed Caceres was the taekwondo master out of the two. Despaigne's hands were at his waist but that's about it, nothing else reminded me of a striking expert at all. Let alone not having one method of getting off the ground. He looked like a brawler at his first class in an mma gym! I really hope he shows his martial arts pedigree more in the future.

The hardest working men in the business, but previewing this particular card has to have you questioning your life decisions. This card makes last week’s card look like UFC 300. Keith, this dude isn’t Leon Edwards 2.0, he’s English Erick Silva. He’s a “young prospect” who will turn 34 next July.
@sherdog2 күн бұрын
Au contraire, speaking for myself at least (Ben), I enjoy previewing the lousy cards almost as much as the great ones. It's just a fun process.
@rcnordo43662 күн бұрын
You're a better man than me Ben. I see an Apex card with guys and gals whose names look like Scrabble tiles were shook out of a Yahtzee dice cup and my eyes glaze over. If a card is Michael Johnson crappy, I can work with that. But when it's Montana de la Rosa crappy and it's in the goldarn Apex ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. What sucks from my perspective is that I want a card to be interesting enough that I'll watch enough of it participate in your and Keith's recaps... ain't no chance of that happening here brother. Epilogue: Hey, Michael Johnson actually beat Edson Barbosa nine years ago! Because of course he did.
@sherdog2 күн бұрын
@@rcnordo4366 Johnson was the first UFC fighter to beat Barboza without wrestling him. He was the last guy to beat Tony Ferguson before Ferg went on that insane 12-fight tear. He beat Dustin Poirier worse than anyone at lightweight other than Khabib. When you contrast those highlights with some of his lowlights, and realize that even in his prime he was barely above .500 in the UFC, he is the most inconsistent high-level talent in MMA history and my ultimate "scream at the TV" fighter.
@rcnordo43662 күн бұрын
@@sherdog and he wobbled Khabib and had Gaestje hurt! And yet lost in his prime to Meza Hadidi, Myles Jury and Paul Sass and lost his season of TUF to Jonathan Brookins. That’s why he is one of the most fascinating fighters ever. Well, after Erick Silva.
