I'm pretty sure Scotland only has two fighters left on the UFC roster, which gives little chance of the UFC returning to Glasgow. I think the best way to improve Bo's boxing is to put him in fights where he has to use it to set up his takedowns. He's always going to have that wrestling superpower, so his striking will be at its best when it's used to facilitate that. What we saw in the Craig fight was a guy with basic boxing skills basically box a bad boxer in basic fashion. If he HAD to use his boxing to set up his wrestling to win we'd be having a different conversation, but who is going to risk that against a guy known for hail mary subs off his back.

im looking forward to Check The Kick and Shillan & Duffy covering the fallout from Belal Muhammad's injury. as im not sure im reading it right! is it just convenient that the ufc signed Kai Asakura right now - or is signing him a result of NEEDING a headliner to fight Alexandre Pantoja? almost as if Muhammad injured his toe and ufc acquired a whole new flyweight over the ensuing shuffle of main events. obviously ufc mismanages flyweight - but the schedule ufc has agreed to fill in for espn is doing more to affect the welterweight title situation and to squeeze Rakhmonov out of a Main Event spot. is that how im meant to read it? usually ufc loves to make a Interim Belt and make totally new Main Event from a Interim TItle fight, but ufc is not doing that in the case of Rakhmonov v Garry. Rakhy isnt going to move his fight date but hes still losing the main event out to a fighter in Asakura who hasnt even fought in the ufc yet. then the ufc call Covington back from the grave to fight Buckley - but they dont award Rakhy or Garry any thing more than calling their fight a "title eliminator". like, dfid every body involved automatically benefit - except for Rakhomonov ? Key-word automatic, as i expect Rakhy to just win any ways. the context seems brutal is all.
@sherdogКүн бұрын
[ben] The UFC signed Asakura long ago enough that it would have taken a crystal ball to know they needed a headliner for that particular weekend, but it's definitely hard up for challengers for Pantoja already, just because he's been around so long and fought everybody (sometimes two or three times!). One intriguing question mark is the UFC putting Asakura in a flyweight title fight without even proving he can make 125 first. He's been fighting at 135 in Japan, and to put it nicely, they may have put a finger on the scales for him once or twice over there.

Cool, i wish you guys had talked about Yan X. vs Ricci fight but i can't see how Petr Yan beats Figgy.

Maybe I will recap it! My prediction is Ricci tries to wrestle and it doesn’t work well and losing a meh striking match.
@sherdog2 күн бұрын
[ben] I kind of agree with Dev here. Yan Xiaonan is always bigger and stronger in the cage than I remember her being, and Ricci is obviously athletic and a ball of muscle, but she's always smaller than I expect.

At this point, Jon has an easy path to Goat status. He's already the LHW goat, but I don't buy all that stuff about $ and family, he's likely financially set, however, all he has to do is a sign a 3 fight contract and fight Tom, Blaydes, and Pereira. Make it for 30, hell 40 million, fights 8 months apart, he's set for life and no one questions his greatness. Cherry on top, after those 3, so. A one fight deal against Francis. I'm sick of these guys saying they are the greatest when they are actualyl scared to be great. Even then, he's still a PED cheating wife beater, but in the ring, you couldn't deny him.
@Portia_BainesКүн бұрын
@@devgoesfishing765 I think it will be somewhat similar to Ricci's fight with Manon Fiorot but not as violent and without a finish. I see it as being a 30-27 for Yan and I think the UFC are banking on it as Yan gets a win in China and they don't see Ricci as someone with title fight potential.

welter weight is old, every time i look at it its depressing. from lightweight upwards, fighters fight far past their prime, so may be 165 and 175 can exist for the second half of fighters careers - when cutting weight isnt so crucial to their career or their health.

"UFC 309: The One Where I Went to the Republican National Convention and a Medicre UFC PPV Broke Out Which Then Devolved Into a Snuff Film of an Old Cleveland Firefighter" I thought it was funny the commentators (who were in rare form, and I don't mean that in a good way) said that Jon Jones developed a jab surprisingly late in his career, and they didn't know why. I assume it's for the same reason that Moe of the Three Stooges didn't develop a jab until late in his career. Speaking of which, can we have the conversation about Michael Chandler? He seems like a good enough dude and of course he's an all-time great action fighter but the dude especially late in his career cheats a LOT. The hammerfists to the back of Oliviera's head were bad, but also constant fence grabs, glove grabs, an eye poke in the first round . . . when you consider the nasty shit he pulled in the Poirier fight somebody has to do something. Not that this was the most blatant fight in terms of "inadvertent" fouls but I don't really understand why the UFC turns a blind eye to it, unless Jon Jones "accidentally" poked it while handfighting with fully extended fingers. It doesn't seem to do anything for the fans, the fighters or even the promotion, and I've been watching MMA since before Bob Chimpson was born (but not, somehow, before he commented 458,000 times on live Sherdog recaps). Ben, I can’t say I have any interest in UFC Macao but if there is ever a UFC Seoul or Tokyo event again and you need a preview partner who will watch a ton of tape of crappy Korean and Japanese fighters but mostly just make a lot of corny jokes based on 1990s pop culture, well sir I’m your huckleberry.
