I have owned Arma for many years but only played the campaign missions. Is there anywhere you could suggest new p,Ayers look for groups to play with? UK based here.

@kaitheglasses15 күн бұрын
In house (all our missions are). Although this one is part of a larger series where we play as a PMC and buy our own gear across missions that we run once every few months. Props to our lead mission maker that set the whole thing up.

This is one of the best ARMA3 videos I’ve ever seen, one life ops are always way more intense than just spawning and dying over and over; plus the animations and subtitles really make an already good video great
@Jiggy.Jigsaw20 күн бұрын
Arma is for the game it is very detailed, there is only one thing I have to point out that just irritates me, the docked sub is a british vanguard class and not a russian vessel, „angry submariner noises“
@kaitheglasses20 күн бұрын
If you squint hard enough, anything's an Akula... promise! If it's also any consolation, the Ticonderoga was added in post. In the original mission we had to use the game's original destroyer as a stand in which was most definitely not period accurate lol.

I really wanna get into Arma stuff like this but my computer is shot and I dunno where to start But I have fiddled with the zeus solo, setting up some fun stuff For ending a mission quick, though? You didn't seem to be interacting directly with players (I've watched a lot of Liru the Lance Corporal, for example, who takes up the role of CentCom, I think), but one could do so regardless if they were or not. Act as a priority transmission from a BluFor operation in the region but on a mission unrelated to yours, saying, "Break break break! All Blufor units in the region, be advised. Opfor has..." A) "...gained air superiority! CENTCOM calls full retreat. Repeat, CENTCOM orders immediate withdrawal from the conflict zone, Opfor has inbound fast movers." Cue heavy airstrikes. Start with clusters and get more accurate as they endure. B) "...fired an artillery barrage from [direction of Opfor territory]. Repeat, previously unknown artillery element has opened fire, CENTCOM is advising disengagement and withdrawal." Cue heavy artillery bombardment. Get more accurate with it the longer they remain alive. C) "...been denied the objective. Good work gentlemen. Hold position, we're wrapping up one more loose end for this op. Thank you for your service." Cruise missile onto their position.

There was a massive amount of context here that has been cut out from the video lmao. To fill in the blanks: It was heavily, heavily foreshadowed both in the briefing and how it was setup that the players were not expected to survive, with significant odds of 5:1 and the enemy having the equipment advantage. This was further supplemented with initial probing attacks and distant artillery (I didn't have to transmit anything about what was going on, because you could physically hear your friendly platoons getting smacked in the distance). Ideally I'd have hit the players with heavy artillery barrages if possible, but they did not have hard cover, and this would be unfair. To further apply pressure, it was also transmitted halfway through that a separate platoon had been destroyed, and an additional flank exposed. Enemy pushes themselves were screened with mortar fire and smoke screens. At no point both communications and environmentally wise was it unclear what was about to happen. Lastly, although I showed it like this, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘦𝘯𝘥. Ironically, the only reason I pulled in the tank at the end and laid down direct HE fire was that I had serious problems actually overrunning the players, by the time this happened they had successfully mauled a full sized Sov. Mechanized Infantry company with infantry reinforcements (10 BMPs, 4 tank kills), and had fallen back to their final line of defense. I could have shelled them to death with artillery, but I refuse; because if I'm gonna get overrun, dammit I want to meet the enemy do it.
@kaitheglasses21 күн бұрын
As for where to start... there's a subreddit dedicated to Arma 3 groups advertising to try and get new members. Once your computer is fixed, that's probably a good place to start.
@triggerhappydinosaur361821 күн бұрын
It was 100% a doomed effort from the start and it was made VERY clear that's what is was. A recon platoon acting as a forward screen to buy as much time for the real front line to reinforce whilst causing as much damage as humanly possible. The way things kept ramping up alongside our own dwindling supply kind of forced us to reconcile very early on that the most we could do was hit them as hard as we could for as long as we could. The overrun at the end honestly felt really natural given the circumstances; Our friendly platoons on the flanks had been destroyed so our defensive line and information line was all but cut, we were at the main point of ingress for an armoured column and we had destroyed so much armour that they quite frankly got sick of us being there. It worked really well and felt like a very natural conclusion to the op. It was also, very funny.

Personally, I find players hate when they die unceremoniously in a random explosion so when I was Zeus I would always stroke their egos a bit and say “you’ve defended so stiffly the enemy is shelling everything including their own troops just to kill you” then send in some air strikes to take them all out lol! Creates a fun little mini game of “everyone scatter and see how long can you last before you’re unlucky and suddenly explode” 😂
