9:17 this is wrong I will tell how I think there is more to it, if Ajith is 10 ft and Trisha is 5ft, then the reflection is 10 only from the starting point of real world Trisha, this only works when camera is also in the same radius as Trisha and Ajith has to be 5 ft not 10 ft to be in focus . But from the looks of the shot the camera is being set up halfway between the door and Trisha, meaning Trisha might be 10 ft in the real world to match with Ajiths 10 ft in the opp side behind the reflection. Hope it wasn't confusing.

Smart. An easy way to think about this is to forget the camera, which the expert vfx bros took into account. Just use the object reflecting as the origin and the distance of real world object u wanna focus behind it. Eg if ak is 10 ft behind the reflection keep Trisha 10 ft from the reflective surface so her reflection is 10 ft behind in the reflection, meaning no need to take camera distance into account, it just makes it more confusing.

I will tell even easier way. The distance of real world object (ak) from the reflection is always equal to the distance of the object reflected from the reflective surface. If ak is 10 ft from reflection Trisha should be 10 ft from reflection in opp direction, if ak is 3.1415 ft from reflection, Trisha should be 3.1415ft in opp side from reflection. So yes expert vfx were wrong on that analogy they gave with ak, but correct in demonstration.
