I have several comments about different things in this video. First - I love your nail polish color!! So pretty!! ❤ Second - this looks like a great box! I haven’t gotten SS for several years because I still have too many of them that I haven’t finished. Someday, hopefully, I will get them done. Anyway, I still love to see what comes each month. 😊 And finally, while I don’t have any experience with having a child with febrile seizures, I do have experience with having an older child with seizures. Not quite three years ago my son (then 15 years old) began having seizures at school. Different causes that I won’t go into, but I completely know how scary it is to be the parent of a child having seizures. My heart goes out to you so much and I will pray for wisdom for you, your husband and your doctors as you travel this road. 🙏 My son has been diagnosed with epilepsy that has been managed with medication. Praise God that he hasn’t had a seizure in over two years!! I really enjoy your content. Keep up the great videos!!

Thanks so much! It's called Good Vibrations by Essie and is one of my very favorites. I'm so sorry you're going through that. It's so tough to watch and feel helpless. I'm happy to hear that you're able to manage it. I hope it's something he can grow out of? I've heard keto is also great for managing epilepsy. Thanks so much for your kind words! 💞

Hi! I am sorry you went through the febrile seizures with your baby. It is scary. It's really not uncommon children run hot and fast temps when they are sick. I was an ER nurse before retiring so I saw my share or mostly heard of them from frantic parents. As I said small kids will spike a temp relatively quickly and the best thing to do when they are sick is to take a temperature (anal) routinely during the illness. I say anal bcz it's the most accurate. If not anal then under the armpit (put under armpit and then arm down. don't twist or pull the thermometer just lift arm when finished) for 5 minutes and add one degree. That will give you an idea how it's going either up or down. If they get over 103° either call your Dr or go to ER or urgent care. Also get some children's liquid Tylenol in them as soon as they become febrile and routinely as directed on bottle even if they feel better. Keep a current weight in your baby always. Then you won't have to guess about the dosage. If their temp continues to climb please don't wrap them up tight or heavily with a blanket. A comfortable light blanket is enough. Our bodies are designed to fight off fevers naturally. They may shiver a bit but if you are holding them next to your body with that blanket and the Tylenol they should relax. Also HYDRATION!! I can't stress this enough. Even if they won't take a bottle deliver spoonfuls (or a liquid medication doser) of water as much as you can throughout the period. They may not want to suckle but they will swallow water or juice from a spoon. Do not shock them into a cold bath. You can put them in a lukewarm tub but don't allow them to get cold enough to shiver. You can use a cool compress as well. It's really hard to think clearly when your child is sick but if you make a chart/list of these things and put a couple around the house you can go to it and know what you should do in those moments. If you get upset they get upset. Also go to your pediatrician and talk with them. They should give you enough information to ease your mind. It doesn't last forever. Most grow out if it. Your baby is unique so watch them, how they are behaving, what changes about them during this time. I hope this helps you a little. Take care and I hope your baby gets better quickly..they usually do. Feel free to contact me for support. I am not a Dr but a mother and grandmother and nurse. These things I have suggested are things you can do at home before going to see a Dr. Always follow their instructions carefully. Best of luck!👶😊

Oh! About the unresponsiveness. They become unresponsive mostly due to the excessive temperature. If you can manage to help keep a fever down then half the battle is done. Our brains do not like excessive temps. Just like a heat stroke in hot weather can harm adults. So keep a close eye on your children during illness and hopefully avoid an incident. 🥰🧚

My niece had a febrile seizure when I was watching her. She had a cold and was running a high fever. I met ambulance on the road since I was driving her to urgent care when she had the seizure in my car. She was admitted too. Similar symptoms you described, passed out and unresponsive, though not blue. Ambulance was super quick and responsive so I think that helped a lot. She had just the one and was fine afterwards. Her younger sister never had one. So sorry to hear that about your little one. Super scary I know but praying she will grow out of it.

Two of my three children had febrile seizures - all of them under the age of three at the time My daughter only had one but my son had several. They all came on when their fever spiked suddenly. They are scary - breathing became so shallow that I thought they were not breathing and the convulsions are difficult to watch. After hospital stays and multiple tests, they were diagnosed with febrile seizures. My nieces also had febrile seizures so there may be a genetic (or familial) component to the tendency to have febrile seizures. The good news is that they outgrew the tendency to have them and suffered no long-term ill effects.

Fancy That Design House is one of my favorite Moda fabric designers. I bought a charm pack of Folk and Lore so that I could get a look at each print. (Charm packs are my way of checking out fabric lines that I’m particularly interested in.) I like the animal print, but the fox looks kind of scary. This line has a lot of prints in straight lines, and I avoid those prints because crooked lines drive me crazy. I did like the leaf background print on eggshell, so I bought some of that for my stash. I’m sorry to hear about your daughter’s seizure episodes. My older son had a different form of seizure that happened just a few times a day or so before he came down with symptoms of an illness. One example was a seizure before his chicken pox appeared. We eventually found a very good pediatric neurologist at Bryn Mawr, and my son took anti-seizure medication for a number of years. He was eventually able to taper off the medication when be reached adolescence, and the seizures did not return. Since you have a scientific background, I’m sure you will do thorough research to learn about febrile seizures, but seeing your child have a seizure is very scary even when you know what’s happening. My advice to you for now is to make sure you and your family members are trained on what emergency procedures to follow if another seizure happens. That might help alleviate some of your immediate concern. After that it’s a matter of finding medical care you are comfortable with and taking things one day at a time. Best wishes to you and your family because handling any medical issue is never easy.

That’s awesome!! There’s nothing better tasting than fresh fruit! I just ate our last peach we grew this year and it was out of this world with flavor. So I have lemon balm, mojito mint, echinacea/cone flower and holy basil that can all be used for tea. The only one I’ve actually used is the mojito mint though. I love to boil it in a big stock pot with black tea bags, let it cool and put it in the fridge for iced tea. It’s SO good!!

I don’t subscribe to any subscription boxes, but I would like that tote too. I have a Sewline pen with purple ink that disappears in air. Sometimes it lasts only a few minutes; other times portions last a day or two. It depends on humidity. I use it for marking my slow stitch embroidery. I bought one of Sewline’s blue water soluble markers so that I would have something that lasted longer. Fortunately, I tried it on a test cloth because water did not always make it disappear. Sometimes the blue area enlarged and stayed. Other times nothing happened. So even though Sewline is a very good company, always test the product you plan to use on a sample of the fabric you plan to use it on.

@coffeecakequiltcompany
@coffeecakequiltcompany 2 ай бұрын
That’s a great question! ☺️ When needed, I snip into corners or use pinking shears around curves to help seams lay flat. Usually when I’m turning fabrics right side out after sandwiching. This block didn’t need notching and ironed out pretty flat. The quilting should help hold the seam in place as well.

I like how you compared curved piecing to sleeves. I noticed you were using your 1D foot. How many numbers to the right did you move your needle to get your 1/4-inch seam? P.S. You didn’t have your dual feed engaged; you need that for the best functioning of a D foot. Almost forgot to add my project. I’m currently working on a test pillow cover before I use my expensive Tula Pink bunny fabric. My test fabric is an old steampunk fabric that I found in a thrift store.

Hi Carol! I move it 4 spaces to the right for a scant quarter. I find that 3 is a true 1/4" SA but my blocks come in small. How do I engage the dual feed? I thought it was automatic. I'd love to see your project when you're done! Do you have an instagram?
@Carol_Sews

@@coffeecakequiltcompany Which machine do you have? I thought all 9 mm Berninas had the dual feed that could be pulled down at the back. It’s in the spot where a presser foot lever would have been. You have to pull it down when the presser foot is raised. I do have Instagram, but don’t often think to use it.
@coffeecakequiltcompany
@coffeecakequiltcompany 2 ай бұрын
Ah, ok! I have the QE770. When I lower the foot of my machine, I hear the feed dogs lift so I think it’s automatic but I’d have to look into it to be sure. There’s a button on the right next to the power source that you push in to lower them for FMQ.
@Carol_Sews
@Carol_Sews 2 ай бұрын
@@coffeecakequiltcompany I looked up the 770 QE. The Bernina info says you have dual feed. That is something completely separate from the feed dogs and dropping them for FMQ. The dual feed acts a little like a walking foot. It helps pull the top fabric along, but it is not as effective as a walking foot for stitching a quilt sandwich. The dual feed mechanism fits in between the two sides of a D foot. That’s why there is an opening in a D foot. There are lots of KZbin tutorials about the dual feed.
