TD-H3 is an outstanding piece of kit; I purchased the two-radio kit. You mentioned the TD-H3 lack of IP rating, using them camping hiking, on long walks, then being caught in unexpected rain, and the like, is a concern. With Fall and Winter creeping up upon us the IP 65 rating of the TD-H8 makes it a particularly good option. My other radio is the QRZ-1 Explorer, again without IP rating. The TD-H3 and TD-H8 being able to switch between GMRS and HAM is particularly good. Be aware, switching modes removes your programed settings requiring the settings be reloaded for the mode, HAM or GMRS, one switches to. This will require CHIRP or the TD software using Windows 10 or 11. Odmaster programing software works over Bluetooth to the TD-H3 thus should be installed on your phone be it Android or iOS. It would be wonderful for Tidradio to have their next version of their TD-H3 have a IP68 rating. Also, more power for HAM as the H8 does. Yeppers always trades offs.

I was able to get 10 watts for a limited time after a full charge, with noticeable battery warming. Once battery voltage started to drop, it gave about 7 watts, so I went back to 5 watts for regular usage.

Your firmware update software will not acknowledge the comm port unless the radio is powered on, any solutions? Tried on mutiple win10 computers. Drivers are up to date.

Confused about the different between this "repeater tone" (1000hhz, 1450hz, 1750hz, 2100hz) and the CTCSS/DTS tones... I have not changed the "Repeater Tone" from the default 1750hz... but properly set my CTCSS tone and i can make my local repeaters work. So.... what exactly does this repeater tone do that is different from the CTCSS/DTS tones? Confused.

My Suggestions for the TD-H3 Plus or TD-H4 when you release it: 1. Fonts like a Yaesu 2. MicroSD Card slot to record and play back transmissions, conversations and MP3 Music or recorded Morse code Audio to Transmit on HAM or GMRS. Basically be able to transmit recorded Audio over GMRS and HAM specifically for Repeaters and sending Morse Code that was recorded as an audio file. 3. Besides having FM commercial Radio..I would add AM commercial Radio because there is alot of News and Talk show radio stations that are important in an emergency... I know USA is trying to get rid of AM but its still being used....and the BEST feature? 4. Allow it to be recognized as an SDR USB dongle for software like SDR-Sharp (SDR#) and SDRpp/SDR-Plus-Plus 5. Allow the Bluetooth to connect to Windows, MacOS ad Linux so that you can wirelessly use ODMaster Webapp to ad channels and also transmit all audio to the Computers Speakers!. 6. Make new colors in: Dark Red, Dark Grey, Dark Blue, Dark Green. Bright colors make no sence if you dont want to be spotted at night.

Wish it was easier to upgrade the firmware. I don't have access to a windows or apple computer since my android tablet works just fine.

I love this radio. We are hikers and climbers and we use it all the time. But why do you say 5km range? I can hit repetitor over 60km from me and talk with another radio over 20km no problem. Yes in the car, with forrest, curves etc but if you have a little better visibility you can go a lot more. Just swap anttenna for nagoya 701 and you are ready to go. Best radio for this price.

Option to add a third option to the button. Example Single press - flashlight Double press - FM Long press - NOAA An option to change what functions are assigned to the button without needing a different device (computer or cellphone), local to the hd-t3 radio. Suggestion - turn radio off, press and hold button down and turn on the radio (wireless copy), make it a selectable menu (simular to the 1. HAM, 2. GMRS, 3. NORMAL) to assign (single, dual, long) button press. Or add #57, #58 to the menu to assign (single, dual, long) button press.

When you select the normal version, is the GMRS and Ham stations programmed in, or do you have to program everything in?

brand new to ham radio, after a bit digging around, H3 seems like the perfect choice for me. great after market support both in software and tones of standard antenna to choose from. bluetooth was breeze to use, and ofc the chirp compatibility is a must. all USB-C port super nice to see. dual PTT, with all the popular feature you can and can not think of, this is the best 40$AUD i ever spend in my life.

Why when I set the CTCSS for our area, which is 100, not 88.5 does it not find 100 when I seek?? Do I need 2 radios to check it??

First, set the "activation code" of an H3 radio on the software in advance." - I did not set an activation code on either of my two radios. - I did not send a command to Kill All Lock to one of my radios. - Yet one of my radios was "Killed" - Since I did not set any activation code, I am forced to either return the radio or to buy a cable. My concern is, how did my radio become "Killed"?
