Hello thank you for your message, soil should be ok. The only problem with it is the microbes that live in soil can can be problematic to rooting. See you you go for a month, you can carefully open it up to see if callusing (swelling of cambium) has started at the cut and where it will root, if nothing swap for moss. Good luck keep me posted.

@@Bunjinboy1 thank you for your reply unfortunately I look at it today and the branch I'm using looks like it's dieing the leves are dehydrated never mind I may pick up some stagnant moss and try again . Thank you

@@debradurling317 that will be the soil not giving enough moisture to the cut section. Get some moss and try again. 😊

Is there a limit to the size of vine that you can airlayer? The one I'm wanting to do is a wisteria vine about 6 inches in diameter. Also, the part of the vine that I want is straight without any secondary branches. So think of a straight 6 ft section of tree trunk without any secondary branches. Is this possible?
@Bunjinboy1
@Bunjinboy1 5 ай бұрын
Hi I have not done a 6inch bit but last year I did two 4 inch bits. I is off and flowering now and other did not root but still growing ok. I plan in a week or two to open it up check the callus is ok and reapply hormone and fresh new moss and hope it roots this year. All the time the section above is active it should grow and root. So as long as your 6ft length has foliage above the cut then it should root it may be slower to do so but the better the foliage grows above the better your chances so don’t prune any tendril growth while the air layer is on progress. Good luck and keep me updated. Thank you Andy.

Having just seen this video . What kind of banzai mix do you use do you make it homemade and if so how and with what recipe for wisteria?
@Bunjinboy1
@Bunjinboy1 6 ай бұрын
I keep the mix open often 50% akadama 30% pumice 20% grit. You can use a loam based compost but add 50% grit or pumice. Good luck with your trees. Thank you for watching.

нет, сердцевина древесины в любом случае сгниет, так как в нее попадет вода, но с деревом все будет в порядке, поскольку окалина защитит живой материал.
