Nice fix! Just keep an eye on the battery charge level. I think DeWalt tools rely on the tool to protect the battery from over discharge. Maybe not, that's just what I heard.

I'm a weekender mechanic (only work on my own vehicles, in my woodshop, because wood is what I ACTUALLY know how to work on), so please don't cut into me for a dumb question. But... I've always wondered why the any car manufacturers ever decide to do a T-belt instead of a T-chain. I've owned two VW's that I adored, but that nagging awareness that there is a catastrophic wear-item on the vehicle always bummed me out. What's the benefit of producing an engine with a belt in some cases instead of a chain?
@corey1.9tdi
@corey1.9tdi Ай бұрын
This car has 217k on those chains probably was making grinding noises on startup for a while and was not taken care of in time. Belts usually last from 80k to 130k. The worst I think is GM’s 4 cylinder chains maybe lucky if they last 80k some times. Doing routine maintenance will pay off in the long run with lower maintenance cast.

I love comments like this we're clearly someone such as yourself doesn't remember the time frame. There was not a whole lot of cars in the early 2000s making 300 + horsepower. Also it should be mentioned 3.8 GM engine came out back in the early 1960s, it's quite possibly one of the best V6 engines ever made from a durability standpoint and longevity. New engine is definitely make more power but as they are starting to get some age on them we are realizing they are not real reliable. It's almost like thin low tension piston rings, high PSI boost combined with small displacement and variable valve timing would have an issue on longevity. Who would have thought (sarcasm). For the record I'm not a hater on new cars but when you are talking 1996 until about 2008 vehicles were probably the most reliable they ever will be and they made decent enough power they are drivable at modern highway speeds.

@AtomicReverend thos gm 3.8 were truly durable love it on how ppl conplaint about v6 low hp v6 arnt really a hp engin their more for the torque and to work let me now if their any v6 engin built from 2015 and up that last over 300 000km new cars are designed to outlast their extended warranty and that's it. Car manufacture knew how to make thing last but they are payed to make thing break so they can keep geting paid.

Those trucks are notorious for not connecting that AUX wire to the stud at the fuse box (from factory). They also don't always connect the power wire for the brake controller either. Both wires are red and are pulled right up next the fuse box. Then zip tied to other wires. Just need to connect to the appropriate studs and and install the fuses as you showed.

I'm sure you will find motor oil I'll build carbon on your exuast valve - in the end the engine won't start because of compression loss - the upper cylinder just doesn't get hot enough to burn heavy oil you might get away with 25% motor oil - marine diesel is 30% oil - we use bunker C through f in the offshore oilfields - the fuel is heated to 350° -. Also the upper cylinders run at higher tempriture compared to air cooled engines

Only problem is the stock fuel tank is a bit messy leaking from the cap. The generator head I machined the shaft to fit the pulley. Also keep in mind the the shaft on the engine is metric and you will have to hug out a pulley to fit the shaft.

@@corey1.9tdi Great video I am so happy that I came across it.. Can you make a video on how you converted the alternator to a pully setup please, it would be much appreciated. I'm thinking about buying one of these and I appreciate the effort you put into testing the engine. I'm curious though, is the engine actually governed to 3000 RPM as stated on most websites, or is it 3600 RPM like similar size gasoline engines? I see you're getting 60Hz from the generator but I can't tell if you're using different sized pulleys to spin it faster.
