“With all due respect” is a politely veiled insult. Do not use this phrase in polite conversation where the person you are speaking to is actually someone you respect. “With all due respect” is essentially the same as saying, “you’re an absolute moron and I’m going to correct you”, or “you’re a fool/windbag/idiot”. If you want to convey respectful disagreement, use “Respectfully, I disagree”.

In my opinion it is not wrong. The English language has a lot of borrowed words and phrases that one assumes to be English. Americans speak English their way. So does the people of the U.K. You will be surprised to know English in U.K is written and spoken differently in different parts of the country. I also don't think 'eat my brain comes from Hindi. This is very much used in Western pop culture by native speakers of English. On my part I do use 'eat my brain' to indicate annoyance and will continue to do so.
@archanakalele10 ай бұрын
"Don't eat my brain" is an informal expression that's a direct translation of the Hindi phrase "मेरा दिमाग मत खा" (mera dimaag mat kha). While the literal translation might seem odd in English, it's understood colloquially in both languages to mean "stop bothering me" or "stop annoying me." The phrase is used informally to express frustration towards someone who is being persistent in an annoying or bothersome way. In English, a more commonly accepted equivalent might be "Don't get on my nerves" or "Stop bugging me."
@siddharthamukherjeeXVII10 ай бұрын
@@archanakalele Yes, 'Don't get on my nerves" or 'Stop bugging me' is more appropriate. More formal would be to use the word 'annoying' or 'irritating'. For example 'utterly irritating' or to be creative, 'unpleasantly annoying'. However, are you sure this come from Hindi? I have not researched this but i do have my doubts. We Indians also assume the 'Samosa' and 'Chai' to be Indian. Where as Chai is originally from China and was introduced to us. Samosa is Persian. In any case, I both like and encourage 'creative' usage of words. So I am going to stick with 'eat my brains'
