Auretti's Dutch Skipper - a favorite performed well into the Regency period. Lovely videos show fancy footwork which can be done on a dance floor rather than carpet, which must be navigated with care.

"Jenny Pluck Pears", one of the oldest dances presented tonight, dates from the 17th century, when Playford's Dancing Master was first published. Editions of Playford's were published for 77 years, until 1728. A lot of cultural changes can happen in 77 years - by that time the Quakers ceased quaking and started dancing!
