So I’ve got “pretty fly” by the offspring planned next but I’m gonna have to do this song after that cause I’ve got an inside joke with an old co worker/friend of mine about sassafras lol!

Yo I wanna learn bass and I've been wondering if you got any budget beginner friendly recommendations for a bass guitar
@gog_bass2 ай бұрын
YESS!!! please give bass playing a try, it can open up so many doors. I dont regret it, and I dont think you will, either! You should absolutely check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKmVp6CEfMt-otk His channel is one of the best for everything bass related on youtube. He doesnt try to sell you sponsored bs or anything. I took his beginner to badass course when I first started which helped me tremendously. My advice for buying your first bass; -Try out a few and see what feels comfortable, the instrument has to choose you, too. 😝 -Stick to the basic basses, you dont need a 5 string Dingwall bass with 2 soapbar pickups with 5 knobs and 3 switches on the side... Ask you local music store (or whereever you end up buying from) if you can try out a P Bass, Jazz Bass, and maybe a Stingray bass. I would consider these 3 bass types to be the solid, classic, tried and true basses. They are the foundation of all Bass guitars and they wont let you down. (There's a good reason almost all famous bass players have one of these basses 😉) -As for your budget, I know how it feels. I started off with a AUD$200 second hand jazz bass from a local school supply store 😭. I would stick with a budget brand thats reputable. e.g. Sterling's SUB range of stingray basses, basically anything from Fender's Squire range is an excellent place to start. The bass in this video is a Yamaha BB234 which was kinda midrange-ish ~AUD$400 and is my absolute favourite one I've had so far, nothing wrong with it. Hope this helps, mate!

Great tone dude. Whats your setup
@gog_bass2 ай бұрын
Thank you! I only used VSTs for this video. I'll add this to the description in case others want to know. For the clean/verse tone, in this order: Me: New strings of course, I dont remember what my pickups were set to, recorded this video so long ago. It was most likely full Precision pickup and maybe a bit of the Jazz pickup. Tone knob on full. Compressor: www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-kotelni... Hit it pretty hard. Thats it. Preamp: www.kvraudio.com/product/the-anvil-by-ignite-amps On the clean channel. Boosted gain a bit, bass dial at noon, mids at 10 o'clock, treble at 3 o'clock Cabinet/IR: markmatulaproductions.com/store/y3cci8flhbthttinpa7bfl3ajfccvs For the angry/solo tone: Same compressor settings as above Overdrive: www.tseaudio.com/software/tseBOD Level at 2 o'clock. Drive at 2 o'clock. Only a tiny bit of blend (wet). Not even sure if this pedal did anything to the tone tbh 😝 I use it all the time for other videos though. Tube screamer: (The green pedal) mercuriall.com/cms/details_freestuff Drive at 9 o'clock. input gain at 3.3 . Tone on full. Level on full. Set to MOD mode. Really helps give it high-end clarity. Amp sim: www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube5/?srsltid=AfmBOopwEhU3egxIPmzkX0szLRiAdFkzdKMVxbC43oDRSzcBcuvi8n2a Im using a free version of it which has white-noise every so often :/ Here's what I was using within it: Preamp: 360Bass Preamp Treble at 3 o'clock, thats the only thing I changed in it Cab: 4x10+tw TE Bass And a little bit of Ableton's default reverb effect Hope this helps! Happy playing
